I have heard it that the weather change we are experiencing is just political??? I can say that my plants have no political preference but they are showing plenty of signs that the weather is having an impact on them.

I went down the Japanese Maple rabbit hole a few months ago when my mom gifted me a Tamekuyama and as I have a new home, I’m going bonkers learning about which maple I want to buy next. Many many thanks to you making videos of your collection. Brings so much help to me figuring out what each tree does as time goes. Really look forward to seeing your videos. Keep it up please. It can get addicting but there is so much pleasure in seeing the colors. Then add the great dwarf conifers for the winter color

The first temperature recording station in the US didn't come about until 1875. There's no way of knowing the actual temps from before that time except through tree ring analysis, archaeology or historical accounts. That said, the Mendenhall Glacier in Alaska has melted to show that there was a forest there two thousand years ago, with tree trunks with roots still in the ground; these were carbon dated. The retreating Rome Glacier in Switzerland has had a similar dating done of horse's bridles and wagon wheels found under the retreating ice; these were dated to the Roman Empire. Swiss historical accounts say there was a a well known trail there. This shows that two thousand years ago the earth was warmer from 250 BC to 150 AD. The sky is not falling.

Yeah “climate change” is such a broad brush term, it’ll be used for population control in the future. Can’t stand the stupidity online but it is what it is. No one wants to mention el niño and how that could be affecting temps. We have had a very very mild summer here in the Midwest. Climate changes every second, and we can’t even predict accurately if it’s goings to rain on a given day, but hey, let’s completely reorder society so that we can change the temperature of our big rock floating through space that is actually heated by a giant ass ball of fire that could wipe us out with a literal fart.

I have lived in the same home for 56 years and I have seen how the weather patterns have been changing for some time. Prior to the late 1980's the lake next to my house would freeze every year enough we could ice skate around New Years. Over the years since that time the amount of times of ice skating has been reduced to basically none. Over the last few years the lakes level has continually dropped and this year it is several feet lower than ever. I am just saying what I see occurring in my garden as a reality and has nothing to do with politics.

@@amazingmaples It's not political to talk about the temperatures. It's the science of biology and archaeology and also the historical records.

The heat is one thing, my trees were damaged in May since it got too hot with the late fresh new growth. It is the lack of rain which is killing my native trees in the forest near my house. I do have to water a little more but it is not a huge difference because even when it rains, the pots do not get much of the rain water because trees canopies are wider than the pots

Wish we could have the weather change in the north of UK. Apart from 3 weeks in June, always overcast, not much sun and rain every day. Not watered the acers for 2 months now. However the leavesoin all the acers is much less than normal, the trees are more transparent because April and May was so cold.

I saw your weather, you do have a lot of grey days. We had them up until May and then it was nothing but sun.

Lol… “The weather is not changing it’s all in the imagination” About the leaf growth on the Amgi Shugire developing weird (at 9:53 on the timeline)… anytime the temperature reaches above 95F, my Japanese maples have the same issue with the malformed leaves. Thanks for the tip on pruning it “airy” to bring out the colors.

Yes and life must be imaginary. As for the Amagi, like many of these "ghost" type leaves, they have behaved unusual over the last few years. I have a kasagi yama with leaves the size of a Japonicum and the color of Ozakazuki.
