What's interesting about this cold spell is that it wasn't a brief one, not even there in Florida. It lasted a long time, for about 2 weeks.

I remember when I was 9 years old I started watching the Weather Channel. I used to tell my uncles when we got together how the weather is gonna be. And I would watch Storm Stories all the time. One time when I moved in to my grandma’s house I got in trouble for talking back to my aunt so she sent me to bed and my grandma called me to her room and lay down with her until 9 which was our usual bed time for school and it made me feel better. While I was watching TV with her, I remember seeing the radar has been rain and mix snow

What I like about this intellistar recording is that it's recording wintry weather in a location that very rarely gets snow or ice. I mean rare af. Unlike most people who record their local on the 8s in the northeast or midwest for wintry weather.

My uncle and aunt who have lived in the Orlando area don't remember this one. The one they remember is the December 1989 cold spell, and that was a bad one. I bet attendace at Walt Disney World was low that day.

@Flyersfan1975 yes freezing temperatures are a big deal around here, snow even more so. the last time it snowed around where i live in the panhandle was about 15 years ago and it wasnt this much or this widespread. down in central florida just seeing freezing temperatures is unusual. im sure many have noticed by now the lack of tomatoes at some fast food places. a lot of crops were damaged this year due to freezing temperatures.

@@scottp4791 They're not gone. I was there in August and I see the orange crops, orange trees, you drive up and down I-4 and the Florida Turnpike. Strawberry crops in Plant City between Tampa and Lakeland, where they have the Strawberry Festival. They're all over central Florida.
