Weather Stripping on my 1979 C3 Corvette

In this video I install a complete weather stripping kit on my 1979 corvette. This includes the doors, the t-tops, the window seals, and the hood seal. Halfway through this install I got sick out of no where and wasn't able to show much about the process of installing it on the t-tops unfortunately.
Overall, all of the seals weren't too bad to install.

you need to adjust both window glass now (remove the panels again & you'll see kinda in the upper center 2 bolts, that's the adjustment for the glass) & adjust each t-top by removing its shims from each side (you'll see 2 boxes on each window) remove the plastic cover to get at the shims) this may take you a few times to get it just right. Also, you might not have bought the exact year moulding kit for your 1979,, you should not have to slam the doors, if it's hard to close, something is wrong, this should not be a problem, most likely the kit you received/ordered is not for your specific year vehicle, NOT ALL C3 parts are the same, little difference's in the years '68-'82 make a huge deal, be very specific when ordering for your 1979, it's not a one size fits all is what I'm saying. Can confirm I got the right kit, but I definitely got the cheap quality weatherstripping that is much harder than oem... which is why closing the door was hard. Several months later the doors close much better, I've adjusted the windows, and the weather stripping has finally softened to within reason. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!

@@bluesxt I just R&R my weather seal, I had a issue of rain water running down, following down by the kick panel & accumulating on the passenger floor,, the front end tab was so rotted & rusted, I had no rubber left on both ends, real pain in the ass, all fixed now, so if you ever had a wet floor & it wasnt your t-tops leaking , it's the door weatherseal,

I got the paint at my local paint place and it was supposed to be the Dark Blue factory color. Same paint code and everything, but it’s definitely not lol. I painted it anyways cuz it still looks good but I already planned on repainting the car again in a couple years anyways.

Looks good! I have a similar issue with my passenger window, it has the same gap - did you fix yours? Any idea how to fix it? Also, do you face issues rolling up your windows? Mine get caught in the stripping, I have to open the door to roll them up/down.

That is a very common issue with these cars. To fix the gap you need to adjust the window by adjusting the window regulator bolts. It’s trial and error to find the right fit. The way I’ve been told is that you can either adjust the windows to where they seal perfectly but then you have to roll the windows down slightly to close the door before rolling them back up to seal. Or you can adjust them to be able to close properly with them all the way up but it won’t be a perfect water tight seal. I need to make another adjustment to them so I will probably make a video of me doing that. It might be a while before I get to it tho

@@bluesxt good tip on the window regulator bolts, I'll keep an eye out if you make a video for that. Yeah my seals might be off because my windows get caught midway - which I'm fairly certain is not supposed to happen :) Guess I'll buy new seals and follow this video

Sadly in Germany and EU you wont be able to afford driving arround in any combustion car from 2022 on due to the new BABVVO and TEBVVO laws

That’s crazy! In 2025 here in the US everyone is making a big push towards electric and I’m sure we’ll begin getting hit with “gas taxes” shortly after

@@bluesxt yeah our new green environment minister Mrs Bärbock gave order to tax any KILOMETER driven in combustion vehicle (Except driving from and to work or to hospital etc...) up to 50 Euros!! (From 2022 on) Forbidden "unecessary travelling" in a combustion vehicle will be called "Abgasbespassung" here...(fun or joy by emission / smoke)

Does the door panel have to be off to install the door seal?

I believe so. The top parts where the weatherstripping screws into the door I believe can only be accessed with the door panel off. Plus you don’t wanna accidentally get adhesive on your door panels :)
