New producer rule (we all have to follow): if you don't spend at least 16 hours on each instrumental, you can't sell it
@seaofroses888812 күн бұрын
I disagree, I have seen producers make good beats in half an hour. It depends on experience level. If you’ve been doing something for 8 years, you will be faster than someone with 2 hrs of experience. I myself need on average 8-10hrs.
@brawndothethirstmutilator984812 күн бұрын
@seaofroses8888, Definitely depends on the person and the moment of inspiration. Story I heard is that J Dilla cooked up the beat for “Didntcha’ Know” in front of Eryka Badu in his basement in about 30 minutes (from records he let her select at random from his shelves). Then again, I don’t think most of us live in the same world as Dilla.

If it took me years to get to the point where I can make a beat in 10 mins, your paying me for the years, not 10 mins

This might just be dumb. When you hear that a famouse song was written in 15m, that doesnt mean it was made, recorded and done in 15m, just means the lyrics and chord progression was made in 15m, totally reasonable, they then lost a lot of time coming up with every detail and instrument phrase and recording and takes and etc.. thats just obvious, and yeah some songs, most things work fast, other dont, but no song was made in 15m unless its really just some chords and simple lyrics with no details whatsoever, and yeah theres great songs like that, but there arent many, not a big percentage of songs are lile that

I’ve sold more beats that I make in less than an hour than I do real projects I invest more than enough time into. People like cheap, and a lot.

Nas is an expert at “hit” songs from terrible beats. He spent over a decade picking headache inducing beats like it was a mission.

Why should i pay a singer if it takes them under 3 minutes to do a take? For real though, this is part of the problem with modern hip-hop, producers mostly care about the bag. You can make a trap beat in a few minutes, but making a beat like anything off dark twisted fantasy will take at least 12 hours. Interesting music takes time, boring by the numbers music doesn't.
@MaryPoppinOfPimpin13 күн бұрын
I guess it's the vibe of the song even if the beat is ahh. The singer or artist sauce the beat usually.

Lady on the right: "I haven't had a job in 6 years" - makes you wonder what makes any of them experts, other than "become a KZbinr just like us". Like, when's the last time any of these 3 had a major placement ? Sometimes i feel people like them are preaching stuff that they themselves are not part of anymore, (or maybe have never been in some cases), at least outside the world of KZbin.

Erinn isn't a producer, she's a manager & Dame works for a distributor
@beatz0413 күн бұрын
@@lyrixFHYeah, but they keep covering topics that are not part of their specific and current occupations. Also, i could simply rephrase my question for you then: "When was the last time any of the 3 was involved in a major placement ?" Better now ? Also Erinn was talking about how she sometimes goes about creating a bassline, so at the moment she was talking as a producer. And if the other guy is "working for" (whatever that means) a distributor, what expertise does he have when it comes to beats becoming hits or not ? In a nutshell, i'm asking *current* credentials that would make them experts on the topics they're talking about. I think that's a legit question.
@soneiricmusic523613 күн бұрын
@@beatz04it’s the music entrepreneurship podcast, all 3 of them have extensive music industry experience & they discuss topics related to the music industry. Even though dame & Erinn aren’t producers, they’ve worked closely with them throughout their careers & have also played a part in placements. Clearly they have enough insight for dj pain to want to discuss this topic with them. Also, she said baseline, not bassline. She wasn’t speaking as a producer during any part of that
