Hi Chuck! I am just starting to learn leathercraft and your videos are so helpful! In one of your vids, you noted that if the back of the leather is fluffy, it's a sign of bad tanning process and to avoid it... well I saw your vid *after* I bought some cheap stuff to practise with and it's very fluffy 😫😂😂 I would love if you could please do a Leather Element episode on what things to avoid for us newbies - maybe things like fluffy leather, how to identify sub-par tools etc? Thanks and keep up the awesome work! 😊

Hi Chuck, Firstly thank you for helping me turn an interest into a new love and giving me the skills to make my basic attempts grow into a much more polished and professional product. Now the ask, I've been asked if I could produce a leather dog harness for a husky! I don't suppose you fancy doing a leather element on dog harnesses? I have some ideas, but leather weight etc I have no idea on. Thank you, in advance, Mick

Got a question or even a topic of discussion for you guys... I'm a fairly new leather worker and I like to make hats... The problem I run into, is when figuring out the stitching holes for the crown, as it joins to the brim, or even the top of the crown, how do I figure out spacing for the holes??? Previously, when I punch the holes on either the body of the crown or the brim/top of the crown, the holes don't match up and it causes me to redo it... Is there some mathematical formula to get the spacing figured out for each respective hat size???

Over thinking here... contact cement is acetone.. so is nail polish Could I use nail polish wit extra acetone to color edges like gum trag???
@WeaverLeatherSupply4 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew, I wouldn't recommend it - gum tragacanth is completely different from contact cement. I would suggest water before acetone for edge slicking.
