So glad you made these cloches! I have retired early due to kidney disease and other issues, so I want ti be self sufficient in my garden, on a tight budget, but like to use what I have in my garden! @@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow when I find some time I'm going to try these. I was scrolling through some crafting DIY's. People have been making lanterns out of the faux metal (plastic) garden trim. You can find these at Dollar Tree, walmart, etc for a $1. I think that they could be used to make more of a square shape.

@@sweetwoodruff6246 Sometimes it does require a billion seeds just to get a couple hundred flowers. My Larkspur and Poppies are doing great, sown in January, popping up everywhere. I hope yours do really well!

Yeah!!!! I had been looking for directions for this and found none, until you made one. I want to make several huge ones to act as topiary and garden decoration (and keep deer from nibbling) I think I will use the top knot to hide the joins. See how it goes.

It would work very well for making tall plant supports as well. I'm going to do some around 4 ft tall for plants that vine, to add some height to the garden.

Hi Jeri. You constantly amaze me ! I LOVE the cloche that you created. I'd like to offer a suggestion and I hope you are not offended. My suggestion is to cut the plywood into a round disc. Get rid of the excess length and then attach the plywood disc to a lazy susan. This way you can just turn the jig as you weave the ivy vines. This should make it easier for you to make the cloches. Thank you for sharing yet another WONDERFUL idea with all of us.

Randy, no offense taken, it's a good idea. The lazy susan would have to be small, so as not to cover the drilled holes, as the branches need to be pushed through at least 5".

The plywood pattern also works well for making tepees for climbing plants. I made 5 of those in half the time it took to make these. Thanks for watching!

Holy smokes Jeri...does your yard routinely flood like that? Yikes! I'm afraid I won't be making any of these cloches until spring either. This old gal isn't sturdy enough to snowshoe out to the woods anymore. But I did go thru my seed basket today and it looks like I've got everything I need for planting some seeds next month...I can't wait to get started. Another great video :-)

Michelle, about once a year we get these amazingly LONG rain weeks. This is nothing! It was even more flooded a few days later when the creek turned into a river, then a lake. Fortunately, it never comes up to the house and the water fowl love it. Hurrah that you've got all your seed stuff ready to go, I just started mine yesterday for the cutting garden.

Mary Anne, I'm pretty sure the grapevines will work if you soak them first. Just be sure your wood isn't brittle or it will be cracking the whole time you wrap.
