Weaving willow and dogwood into artistic garden obelisks to support my poppies in the garden. I don't have my own willow tree but have been able to find some dogwood and willow growing along the side of the road and trails in our area to create these fun garden obelisk for my garden. I use them to support my poppies and hopefully my peony's will be big enough some day to use them as well.

They are wonderful Bonnie! I made some with a 25yr old arborvitae we took down. Didn't turn out as nice as yours. I need to go find your willow spot 😉 Everytime I see your videos you look like you live around the country corner from me 😁.

That's really neat, thanks for showing us your process. I'm planning to weave something to shade young trees (and protect them from critters) - any ideas on how to adjust this method to create more shade?
@artistinagarden
@artistinagarden 2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a great idea! The basic frame of the willow support would hold a small shade cover or to grow a vine on.

Wow, my eyes were glued to the screen. You're a incredible teacher. Your voice allowed all of us to actually hear every word. No whispering ha ha. I do not have dog wood or willow, but my next door neighbor has Wisteria that runs every where ,for years, I've made Xmas wreaths and other do hickeys . So now you've given me more ideas. As soon as the sun comes up tomorrow I'll trying my luck making the obelisk. Thanks a million. God bless. I'll let you know how it turned out

Why don't you plant some willow and dogwood.......? You have the branches for cuttings from you gatherings! Where you want to grow them just make some shovel slits in the ground, place some sand, then your cuttings, and water, they will grow.

Hi thanks for the lovely video. I have a willow tree and wisteria vines. I'm looking to create a protection around small evergreen plugs that are in a field that is visited by all sorts of wildlife. Do you think what you've show us will be enough for that?

I often see Willow and Dogwood growing wild along the side of the road. Look for it in wet areas, liked ponds or ditches.
