Few other things to note.. Cons - If you cancel the ritual for any reason (killer interupts etc) you will lose all progress and have to start the 150 seconds all over again - Against some killers (Trapper for example) sitting in a basment can result in a full team wipe from people trying to save you if you get hooked down there. Pros - You can use it with a broken build(No Mither + resilience etc) to eliminate the main drawback.

@@thewhat2 You can still make a great build out of it. I use Invocation with DH, Resil, and Iron Will and it actually works pretty well. Killer doesn’t seem to be able to hear me, all action speeds are a bit faster, and I basically have a second health state off of hook with DH. If they buffed this perk to not require permanent broken, or reduced the time it takes it to complete invo it would make it pretty solid. Currently I only use this build if I’m playing with friends, because they can manage gens and save each other while I do the invocation as early as possible, after that gens fly by and everybody does fine. You can feel the difference on gen times because of how it slaps a BNP onto them all essentially. If they do decide to buff it though, reducing invocation time to 90 seconds, or giving broken for 120 secs would be nice. Maybe even both. (Also like how nobody currently uses the perk, because it makes it easier for me to do it without killers suspecting it).

I think make the channel take 60 seconds, with 25% faster without an invocation perk and 50% with an invocation perk would be okay, plus, you are permanently broken until you are hooked, then you stay broken for 60/50/40 seconds once unhooked. This makes choosing when to perform or more strategic. Early is better, because sunk cost fallacy with less gens isn't worth it, plus if you do it after you've been hooked, you might be stuck broken until you die. Edit: Also yeah, skill checks or something to occupy your time, like maybe slower infinite skill checks, like Unrelenting Storm from Sadako.

What kills this perk is the fact that most of the people I see run it are in solo q and sit in the basement doing the stupid invocation no matter what is going on with the rest of the team. Never mind that in a perfect scenario where 1 survivor occupies the killer long enough for you to pull it off, your survivor buddies will have already gotten two gens done making it only realistically effective on the next 3 completed gens, not 5. If things go bad and three gens don’t pop before someone goes down. You are locked in place doing that objective and unable to help your team, if two teammates are down at once, you are required to forfeit that time. It would have at least been semi permanent if you were on a gen, as you might get to keep it.

Two things about this video! 1. I had some audio issues, sorry! When I was doing this regularly I had a proper mixer with a preamp (which my mic sorely needs). When I gave up all this, I sold off my equipment. I don't currentl;y have the £250~ I need to get a new mixer (or £120 I need to get a preamp) and after reports that my videos were too quiet I decided to up the gain a bit. And it was too much. But by the time I'd realised I was peaking I was already halfway through editing the audio. I'll look at getting a proper mixer as soon as I get my next payout. 2. I expected this video to get very technical very fast but it didn't. It turns out running the numbers on why this is a bad perk is very easy. So I decided to make the whole vibe a bit more chill than my usual videos. I think it came out well, but I'm always looking for feedback. So let me know. That's it, cheers!

Only time will tell.
@BabyGhast47 ай бұрын
Now I haven’t played with this perk yet, but I would change it by doing the following: The perk lowers maximum generator charges by 18 (only four fifths of progress has to be done now. The Spellcaster (the one who started the invocation) remains permanently broken regardless, but others who join in are also punished but to a lesser extent (one partner: broken for 45 seconds, two partners: both are broken for 70 seconds, all three partners: all are broken for 100 seconds). The invocation takes 120 seconds to do alone, 90 with a partner, 60 with two partners, and 30 with all four. Lastly, the salt circle does not instantly dissipate after being let go. Instead, it will automatically regress like a generator. Killers are able to instantly snuff all progress by performing the “dispel invocation” action on it (the same as snuffing a boon). I think this will keeps the “sacrifice myself for their survival” feel, while also making it more stronger and less all-or-nothing. My hope is that this is eventually seen as a unique support perk that is more “backlines” rather than “confrontational”. I personally would adore playing as a witch that helps her teammates from the shadows instead of an aggressive lady with a knack for sabotaging hooks.

When I saw how slow the ritual is I immediatly thought that - although an interesting mechanic - didn't seem to be so much helpful to use. It shouldn't take this much amount of time, even if it is a way to nerf because it messes with the majority of the gens of the map. I also wanted to note that the perk's design is so inconsistent with what it actually does? Like, the name and the imagery have nothing to do with generators in my opinion. I truly thought it was a perk that summoned actual spiders to help the survivors in some way - like stunning the killer for a few seconds haha.

I’ve actually had some success using the perk. It’s sort of like power struggle where the effect is cool and unique but you need a whole build to get true value out of it. I found that using distortion with the invocation ensures you will not have your aura read in the basement and that having iron will with resilience for after the fact helps mitigate the problems of being injured all the time. Iron will with distortion is quite helpful for avoiding chases and sticking to gens with your resilience. I should emphasize that i was doing this with friends so i was able to tell them not to die around basement or come help me with the invocation. It’s also worth noting that even if the killer came to the basement to stop me (which they never did), it would ultimately be a lengthy distraction as the ensuing chase coming out of the basement would be a long one at either a strong main building or shack.

What if the disadvantage was related to the perks use? Like: Spiders reduces gen charges by 10 but your gen repair speed (solo and coop) is slowed. Invocation: speed demon Upon completion of the 2 min ritual, your team moves %4 faster for the rest of trial and your (not your teaamates) scratch marks dissappear faster But! You and you alone now move 8% slower (as though fully infected w ouroboros) for remainder of match. What do you think? "Matching downsides" a thumbs up or down for Invocation perks? I think there is possibly 1 use for it. 4 man SWF, 1 guy takes No mither and this perk, everyone else takes this perk. The no mither guy initiates it in basement, due to distortion killer with lethal pursuit may not have an idea, everyone goes down to do it, which makes it be done in 30 seconds instead, due to 4x speed. The best way to make this perk work is with 2 other perks that pair excessively well: No Mither and Wicked. No Mither is a really strong perk if you are confident in your partner assisting you or if you can pressure the killer into a scenario where they don't WANT to pick you up, and wicked provides a reactive measure to the event if the killer interrupts your ritual. If you are going to be spending the entire game injured, you may as well do it on your terms, and your fourth perk is open to preference to play style variety if you want to either branch out for self-sustain or double down on your strengths in stealth and recovery. The downside of this strategy is that it's suicide doing this in a solo queue environment; you have to have a teammate or a whole squad to get the most out of all the benefits. Thankfully, while playing Survivor, teamwork is the name of the game.

While you make a good point about the limitations of the perk, it is based around 1.) you doing the entire ritual solo and 2.) the other players not putting a lot of pressure on the gens. Since the quality of randos oscillates so wildly in solo Q, we do have to recognize what you outlined as the base/floor of the perk. But almost every time I've run it in solo Q, at least 1 player has always joined me, which saves about 40 seconds on the ritual. So, we've risen from a bad perk to an OK perk with a random chance of being critically important in a 3-gen situation - notably, it still bestows the benefit even if you die, unlike boon totems and other perks. So in solo Q, it's OK-ish to randomly good and it turns actually great if you randomly 2 players to help while the 4th player keeps the Killer busy. However, I think we should really be thinking about this perk as a SWF-only perk - if you have coordinate the usage, it's downright gross. For example, if you only have just 1 teammate and they add the Invocation perk just to boost you, we're completing the ritual with same speed progression as if we had 2 players helping. At that speed, its only 10 seconds longer than doing 50 charges ourselves on separate gens, and they can't be lost. If you have a bigger team, you can go even faster if you have a great looper - or your broken status can be covered by others taking hits/taking aggro for you early in the game. TL;DR - If you only do the Invocation yourself solo and don't coordinate, the perk is usually not good but can very randomly be good in specific situations. If you get 1 person to help, it becomes OK-ish to very randomly great. If you have a SWF situation, you can make the perk brutal - but this is pretty much the only way you should use it.
@kevinh26247 ай бұрын
but that's the entire problem with it. it takes so much coordination to make the perk work that any game you get value from it was most likely a game you were going to win anyway. because having two survivors do the invo *still* takes 90 seconds (not counting travel time to basement), and 90 seconds is exactly how long it takes for 1 survivor to complete a gen. and that's not counting the opportunity cost that the invocation takes up a perk slot that could have been something else. then factor in the fact that you lose all your progress if you dont finish it, so you can't go for hook saves or to pick someone up- and God help you if the killer goes for a basement hook and stumbles into you, lol. and the cherry on top is that you dont get any BP for it. i ran an invo rush build for 30ish games in soloQ and while I could hardly get any net value out of it, i really love the mechanic, so i'm hoping they come back to it and tune it :)

So, my thoughts: I like the idea of invocations being a trade off and I think this idea can work, I totally disagree with the concept that if this perk was instant it wouldn't be run, it wouldn't be meta but it would be run. Now with the intent of changing as little as possible I think there are 2 changes that need to be made: 1) The charge reduction needs to be increased, I'm thinking to 15 or 20. 2) It needs to be 1 minute. The first one is obvious cause the effect is currently so small, but the second one is more in how invocations function. As it is if you are interrupted while channeling you pretty much instantly loose all progress and spending 2 minutes doing anything is a long ass time. Honestly I think invocations should just be 1 minute, 2 minutes just seems too extreme to balance fairly. (Also it should work on blocked gens, the fact it doesn't it just douchey. I genuinely liked the drawback and benefit dichotomy; permanent progress for permanent health loss. I think that is a conceptually good trade, however if we want to dive into more fundamental changes here are some ideas. Permanent slower gen repair speed on the invoker. Instantly gaining a hook state Gain broken after the next time you are hit Or the one I think would actually be the most interesting: Slowing gen regression by a substantial amount. Now I will say I don't play DBD but game design is my passion and I have watched a fair amount of DBD gameplay. At the end of the day though, these are all ideas, and implementation takes trial and error and lots of tweaking. (Invocations should be 1 minute though, cause to make something work spending 2 minutes on it basically has be somewhat better than doing a gen.)

God, I wish doing that wasn’t so fekin loud, and honestly? I just played a game where we were at two gen’s, one man down, and both myself and the survivor not invoking were injured while SABLE, that little idiot, decided that NOW was the PERFECT TIME to start invoking- I was already injured so I went ahead and helped her. The other guy died working on a gen (which was really sad, the invocation finished their gen) and we were both like 💁♀️🤷♀️🤦♂️

I don't understand what effect is he talking about I was playing yesterday and it said 10% more repair speed and endurance status effect till the end of the match Are they planning to rework it into BNP effect?

It already is like BNP by permanently removing 10 charges from each generator

But you don't need to use this perk right away, best use for this perk imo - work on a gens from safety when killer tunneled you and now you're on a death hook, since not a lot of killers would actually go out of their way to check basement
@kevinh26247 ай бұрын
problem is, that perk is dead weight while you're getting tunneled. IMO the perk's weakness is the slot it takes up

Have you done a myth busted spot on if Sprint Burst and Background Player stack? What I mean is if you aren't exhausted, and killer picks someone up BG will activate. If you sprint during that time BG will be used, exhausting you. But when you start running both SB and BG would proc, so would you get double speed, longer speed, or neither? And if neither. Which will be the dead perk? 🤔

The progression of 15% on PTB is lower than just doing gen and in live when it turn to 10% it even hard to use, usless killer play gen camp really hard that 10% amount could help. But there alternative perk that more easy and can use in many situation like Dejavu or Potential enegy to fix gen camp problem. But let say it very close 3 gen and you use this it not that good as you get injure and what if it stealth killer that can got close to you without knowing and down you right that moment, make teammate need to go help, and what if get hooked middle 3 gen and can easy camp, what if Killer have Pop or pain ressurnance or Dead man switch after? It very hard to use.

Personally, I think weaving spiders has potential to be a really busted perk which is probably why BHVR tried to make the perk probably a bit underpowered to begin with, as well as to introduce the overall mechanic. Invocation perks could easily become a new survivor mechanic with multiple perks. I can see BHVR expanding the mechanic to make huge upsides for survivors (double gen speed for all survivors, no scratch marks for all survivors, double healing speed for all survivors, etc) for equally huge downsides for the entire trial with how they've set this up. Weaving spiders just isn't worth it since the upside isn't actually that big of a deal at any MMR really but if they doubled (or maybe x1.5 charges instead) its gen bonus, I could actually see it being a strong perk that is equal to its downside. Being broken for the entire trial is just too much and I hope BHVR is able to come up with more unique downsides instead of each invocation perk just making you broken, since that would make them way more boring (and mean there would be 0 downside to bringing in multiple)
@RonPhillips4207 ай бұрын
Can't you 99 the invocation too saving it for later?
@kevinh26247 ай бұрын
nope
@xedusk8 ай бұрын
I feel like the broken status should last until you’re hooked. So it’s like you’re trading 10% of your objective for potentially 10% of the killer’s objective. I feel like the rest of it is fine. Yes, you’re still spending more time than you’re saving, but that’s only because it’s the only invocation perk at the moment. Once they get to the point that you can have a full invocation perk build, trading up to 2 minutes for 4 powerful perks could seem like nothing. It all depends on what BHVR does with this perk type next.
@Nebula_ya7 ай бұрын
There's one pro not taken into account at all. How many times has a gen been 90-99% done only to be interrupted, pain resed, popped, whatever. Having 10 less charges doesn't just save you 50 seconds, it for the rest of the game guartees an early lock in of progress, saving you many instances of 50% of a gen being regressed. That's its major pro, not just the 50 seconds.
@Soultiger21008 ай бұрын
Compare it to what we have, BNP. BNP does it but on 1 Gen and can be done instantly. You can run deja vu and get info with faster Gen times as well. It's not great
@GhostelFaceMan7 ай бұрын
The perk is inherently bad but i think what’s good about it is invocations in general. It can introduce a lot of intresting perk designs like bringing in a really op ability to the game but nerfing you or even your team heavily
@Grdian8 ай бұрын
I think it's a great concept. This particular iteration is not great, there are just too many downsides for such a minor upside. Tbh I would increase the noise a lot then reduce the timer to 70 seconds. 10 seconds per gen essentially. Really make it risk/reward.

I just run no mither with this and use weaving spiders at the start of the trial bc why not

I’m pretty sure they don’t want to make another “boon: circle of healing”, cause let’s be real, it literally drop kicked their killer population, BHVR has to be VERY careful with this perk/mechanic, one wrong move and they will effectively jumpstart the same issue that took them a year to moreorless fix

I used this perk with no mither and resilience and it was pretty strong 🤷♂️
@dawsonwarren11217 ай бұрын
The idea is fantastic and people are drastically overlooking what its capable of. You spend 10 seconds less on each gen. Thats INSANE when you think about the fact that this not only 100% negates Merciless Storm, but also makes pain res, pop, eruption, surge, deadmans switch, grim embrace, ruin, etc etc etc etc etc etc work less often. Because lets be real here... how many times have you gotten to 90% or more on a gen and had all its progress taken away by a perk just before popping it? Now. Could the perk be buffed? Absolutely, maybe 15 charges are get perma-saved, Or only makes you broken till your next hook, Or invocations get reduced to 60 seconds and the assistance bonus gets reduced. Either way the perk is extremely good rn, just misused by noobs
@Bodyknock7 ай бұрын
I'm not going to claim Invocation Weaving Spiders is a good perk, but the math in the video saying the perk is saving you 50 seconds "at most" is slightly off because it didn't take into account that the reduced maximum charges per generator can't be lost once its gained. For example, say you spent 50 seconds repairing a generator over a couple of minutes, got chased off it a few times, and in that time the killer used regression to negate 30 seconds from that generator. Then after everything is accounted for you've only gained 20 seconds on the generator. But if instead you had applied Invocation, and then the killer kept you away from the generators, that maximum charge cap reduction hasn't been lost, you've still "gained 50 seconds" in that sense regardless. Another example, when you've applied Invocation it works even on generators that have no progress. So, for example, if the killer downs someone nearby with Surge, that Invocation benefit isn't lost, it will still take only about 80 seconds or so to complete instead of 90. Basically the more often in a match the killer is in a position to regress a generator that currently has zero progress, the better a maximum charge reduction is because it protects against that potential regression compared to having actually worked on the generator instead. So the best case scenario savings is actually more than 50 seconds, possibly significantly more depending on how much regression the killer is attempting to apply through perks to generators. On a tangent, I think an interesting build to try with Invocation Weaving Spiders is to combine it with No Mither, Distortion, and another perk that either works when injured or Broken (e.g. Resilience, Deliverance), with Calm Spirit to further help hide your presence in the basement while doing the Invocation, or with Dead Hard or another Endurance perk to reduce the chance of getting downed in a chase. You then try and complete the Invocation as soon as possible early in the match and will have gained the benefits "for free" since you're already running No Mither as well. (Note also that No Mither eliminates blood trails and reduces injured noises which was mentioned as downsides for becoming Broken in the video as well as gives you free self recoveries from the ground.) It would definitely be a high risk/reward strategy but could be fun to try.

Although I don't play dbd to me it seems like its too much risk for to little reward especially if you remain broken for the rest of the match they could make it so the person who start the invocation has increased gen repair speed to compensate for downsides but I'm not sure how that would effect dbd

im not saying the perk is good but saying the pro is just 50 secs is not it. 10 charges can make a very big difference if a gen is getting done or the killer gets to defend it and potentially degress it to 0 in worst case. i feel like if u manage to use it early into the match, it not just 50 seconds saved. Its messing with the killer sense of gen/game progression and also saves many opportunities for last second pops for example. imagine all ur killer matches when u get a 4k at 2-3 gens in which u were able to get many pain res and pops right before the gen popped would go totally different
