Great tutorial - thank you! I found many examples that purportedly showed how to use JSP from Spring Boot: but this was the FIRST example I found that actually WORKED for Spring Boot 2.x. Specifically you 1) explained why jsp is NOT supported OOTB by the embedded Tomcat, and 2) you pointed out adding "'org.apache.tomcat.embed:tomcat-embed-jasper" as a build dependency.

For a first time user of Spring Boot this was an excellent video, with very good pace and explanations. Thank you so much.Can you alos do a demo of how you would set up a connection to a database, like mssql or db2 or mysql, do a single signon, and then execute multiple rest apis? The apis can be two simple selects on different tables. The sigon thoughmust be done only once.

Just a thought for Spring team - Controller returning JSP page in form of string looks odd even if JSP is not supported OOTB . Let there be an object of some class named "JspPage" with a private member of type String called something like "NameAndPath" which contains the jsp page name. This object be returned instead .
