Been building websites as a profession since 1997 and been struggling with explaining the price to clients ever since. Your pizza metaphor is nothing short of amazing, 😍 Gonna use it from now on. Thanks mate

The Contact page is also expensive. To securely send mail from this page, a SMTP mailer needs to be setup and verified which takes as much time as the visual page layout. Building a simple mailto: isn't secure enough.

I've been charging too little for too long (14 years). It's time to calculate the prices with the document packs I just purchased and create new build plans!

This is great - I have been eating time for ages and got so burned out - it's bad all around to agree to do no-budget websites.

Yum Yum. Best advice I can give is; Cut down on Carbs, Increase Proteins and Fats sounds strange but if you keep your daily diet to 20% Carbs and increase Pr+Fat then you will notice a rapid loss of excess weight and water.

Wow $2500 for a basic cheese and tomato one page
@websquadron
@websquadron 3 ай бұрын
Exactly. Scale up. :) PS - No Extra Cheese is permitted. I value my Day as $1,200 - so a One Page Site could take 2 days for Collating, Building, Refining - hence 2 x $1,250. Used to be a time when I built sites for less than $50 (Pre-2010 era), and then until 2020, I was around the $500 cost. In 2021, I slapped my forehead and opted to build at a higher price (even if it came down to 1 website per month), rather than 6 lower costing websites per month. I do feel like a pizza tonight now... Yum.

Got a bunch of your $1 packs. Awesome. In regards to About being a minor page... I believe the Home and About to be 2 of the most important pages on a site. They need to both be dialed in and perfect. I generally consider each to be about 9 hours. I was caught off guard when you said you thought the About page was a minor page. Interesting take. Not mine. I'm the opposite. My primary price is $3500 + $1500 for discovery for $5000. First page $5k but it includes discovery which they get, so could walk away and do it themselves based on what I find. But I'm charging for the discovery.
@websquadron

Good points. I base the Minor and Major on the amount of content rather than importance. So if the Contact Page had 20 sections (for some bizarre reason) then it would become Major :)

Good vid. I just bought all your packs and had a look through them. Do you have a video that talks through any of it? Most are self explanatory, but I'm a little confused on how your pricing matrix spreadsheet is supposed to be used. Additional context and information about how your care package bolt ons would also be very useful. For example what tools you use for the SEO addon, how you generate the reports to send clients. What reporting tools you use for the Analytics addon, and how automated your report generation/sending workflow is. Also, how you convince someone that a major revision add on may be worth it vs. the hourly cost of them requiring major revisions less sporadically throughout the year. The content you presented in this vid might warrant another document breaking this all down too for easy browsing and reference. Thanks for all you share :)

Conversations like that are reserved for my 1-2-1s because the time to explain all the detail outweighs the $1 packs :) But for the Pricing Matrix - see this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGasqGxsoKx_rKMfeature=shared

@@websquadron Thanks for the pricing matrix link. Re. bolt ons and the software and tools to be able to sell these features, I wouldn't expect that to be necessarily be in a $1 pack. But a stand a lone paid video could certainly be of interest, on better ways to add value to deals and monetise and offer continuing billable services after launch.

Amazing helpful content as always. Thank you for these insights mate! the captions on the side looks very interesting. What do you use for that?😀
@websquadron
@websquadron 3 ай бұрын
CapCut. Auto caption is free. If you upgrade to CapCut Pro (and it’s affordable at $8.99 per month) then you can use some Pro styling for the captions. They have tons of styling for free so you don’t have to upgrade.

What if there's a critical security flaw discovered after the first year? Can you apply those security patches, or are you stuck with an insecure plugin?
@websquadron
@websquadron 3 ай бұрын
@@grizfan93 That depends if you have a Maintenance Plan and ongoing support. If so then the update may be your responsibility to action. If not, then they can either do it, or they pay for you to do it. I will make clear to them that with no maintenance plan, I will not be applying any updates, fixes, updates. Spell it out so there is no ambiguity.

@@websquadron Yes, but for this maintenance to be profitable it must be for X months per contract, because this plugin has a cost. You know how the people are..
