Bob & Dotty Webber built their 500-square-foot cabin in 1961. It was originally located on the west rim of the Pine Creek gorge near Slate Run, Lycoming County, PA. It was their home for more than 50 years; miles from the nearest paved road and without electricity, running water or indoor plumbing. They enjoyed living close to nature and were dedicated advocates for PA’s forests. Although they chose to live “off the grid,” the Webbers were not isolated. They received frequent visitors, sharing their knowledge of the land and helping to connect people with Pennsylvania’s forest resources. Bob & Dotty were incredibly knowledgeable concerning the history and ecology of the mountains they called home. To honor them and continue their legacy of service to Pennsylvania’s forests, their cabin was reconstructed at the PA Lumber Museum in 2018. This video serves as an orientation to the interpretive exhibits visitors to the museum will see therein.
