1. Research the topic to learn. Make it informational not didactic. 2. Read the documentation. 3. Create a 'Hello, World' application. 4. Build a small application using what you're learning alone. 5. Improve the small application using popular frameworks and libraries. 6. Build the application that you want to.

Few advices from me - a 48 years old. Do not press yourself with deadlines, the more you press the less it gets into your brain. The calmer you are the better. Find yourself time to get away and do some physical engagements, gym, walk whatever you like, at least one hour a day. Find yourself time for a good night sleep. You may get away for a while with less sleep but at some point it will come around and hit you badly. Nothing like sleep deprivation hurts the thinker's performance.

Learning the general philosophy and theory of a new skill is such a crucial step. Similar to learning an irl language, you will have a much easier time retaining new information if you understand the culture and history behind it. You will start to naturally anchor the specific stuff back to the general concept, giving you a place to store it in your mind basically.

I've been a high GPA student for the last 6 semesters of my BCS degree but in my 7th semester, I've taken up Web Dev course. And I'm finding it so difficult to keep up with my instructor (who's really inexperienced and doesn't know how to teach). I'm used to learning from MOOCs and textbooks, but Web Dev is a completely different experience for me. I hope I get the hang of it soon. Your videos are helping me a lot. But maybe I'm slow at Web Dev.

Great tips! My best advice would be to dive in coding right away after learning new concepts and experiment. Learning programming isn't like reading a novel, It's more like building a house, you learn a bit then you get to work, get stuck, learn some more and so on!

100% agree with the hello world. from frontend to backend. but, i've only ever used javascript (css and html, too, of course) on the frontend and perl for the backend, all running off an SQLite DB on a self-hosted ubuntu 20.04 desktop box (oh, gee, yes, and i've had to learn BASH scripting, too). i've never known why i'd need node.js or a framework; i have no REST api's, no libraries (aside from the cpan modules i use in perl, and my own perl modules). Because I'm coding in so many languages already, why would i want to then add-on a library, written by others, with more functions to learn and read about and spend time getting good at when the tools i'm using already come with a very rich and mature set of instructions i am completely familiar with? seems to me the good ol' "let e = document.getElementById('someid');" works just fine; it's clear, and easy to debug. i've seen jquery code for instance, and my golygeewillickers it can get uuugly! this, of course, is all *after* you do your systems analyses and design phases. I've had to learn networking and systems administration, i've had to do it all - 100% self-taught and maintained and open source, baby. Learn Linux - the net runs on it, i think you should, too. why not you, too? why windows (shudder)?

It would be nice if you could create a tutorial series about how to develop a custom wordpress theme using custom CSS (maybe tailwind), and maybe react or vue as frontend. Or something like how to deploy a website to a server if you have built the project with vite. How to manage different packages as an example I wanted vite vanilla js project to add jekyll and threejs, but it didnt go well.
