I gotta tell you, man. You are really inspirational. I have a decent background in IT, but almost nothing in web dev. I had some bad experiences recently and got myself into a shitty situation. I've felt totally hopeless and depressed for almost two years. When I start coding I actually had one thing in my mind, remember the sequences of the code which I made, but it didn't work at all. I was so frustrated. Now I have lots of files saved "under my pillow" and I reuse the code from older projects, keeping an eye to them and upgrading when they need.

yes Brad these kind of format should be done at least once per month if you have any such topic as this one, this is very critical issue for beginners and i've gone through already, if this format was there two years ago may be i saved my time where i doubt my self and i was about to quit. conclusion of the video: * Memorize concept only. * Core concepts learned once and applied to any language. * Languages/Libraries/Frameworks have there own syntax but concepts are same. * Make personal docs for syntax reference. * Project based tutorials are very helpful to apply the concept on your application. * Adding my personal point: i used to save the information for future that i hardly find on Google to solve problems. Correct me if I'm wrong. Awesome video. It's so true, people ask me all the time what programming and coding is like. They think it's like what they see in the Matrix with binary code flowing down the screen and being able to read it or like Elliot from Mr. Robot just typing away on a keyboard. I'm like nope, it's more thinking than anything else. I spend more time mapping out my ideas than I do actually coding. Then I research to see if there's a solution similar to my idea and if so, how can I refactor it to suit my needs. Mastering the art of using Google is key to learning how to code. I like the various formats of your videos. The scripted videos are ideal for explaining complex material. The talking head type videos are good for more general conversation type videos. Mixing it up is a good thing.

Keep doing this type of stuff. It really helps us developers that learned 100% by just doing and no formal training understand if we're doing the right things or what others are doing. I'm following some of your tutorials now in 2020, and sometimes watching this short videos where you explain this logic stuff that we all know but don't most of us don't put in practice because most because of being afraid to fail. What i like the most on your videos is to be able to see how much you improve over the time on project structuring and coding writing. It's amazing to see that kind of improvement and also your explanations about why you change your style. I teach, mostly, web fundamentals in Portugal, on highschool like programs and i adopted part of your style on writing/structuring into my classes, and that simple methods made me to be able to change, not only my own comprehension about coding, but also and most important, the comprehension my students. They became so much better at thinking in terms coding logic and structuring that they really start to advance so quick and started actually to build stuff and improve on their own. For me this is a moral boost because i became better at teaching. All just by watching your explanations and your comparations. Thank you so much for having time for doing this. You're amazing. You are a straight shooter and a humble person. I had watched already most of your video's and I continue to follow you because you're a person with integrity. Plus, your crash courses especially your CSS courses for grid and flex box has helped me out a great deal. It's relieving to know that searching and researching for answers is a normal part of the work. Also, it's great that you leave the little mistakes in your vids. Hey Brad, totally love the style of these videos where you’re just explaining stuff to us face-to-face. Hope you do a lot more of these. And yes, I would love if you do a course on just explaining the how/what of things like functions, loops, arrays, etc. I agree The syntax changes but the concepts remain basically the same. Much like learning different verbal languages, a verb is a verb and a noun is a noun though they all are written differently per the individual language. I would love better explanations than I received in boot camp and I think you’re just the man for the job because our minds think similarly.

I like it when you leave errors in your tutorials, however simple they are, and then you solve it. This makes me believe that even the most experienced of developers are atlast humans and they can make mistakes. You are doing a good job. Hats off.

It is good to see people who do it as a job still stuck on problems! I got a scholarship with google/udacity to be a mobile web specialist and it opened my eyes to my mentor getting stuck on a problem I am as well! It's very helpful to know no one sit's down and has all the answer, it takes a massive weight off my shoulders and makes me realize like you said that I have to learn more about principles than I do about remembering every single but of syntax...thanks again!

Brad this is a relief, a huge relief. I haven't worked in a Company so been doing solo Projects. I was of the impression that all good/ great programmers code hours on end without checking out anything, like you just have everything in the brain.

Brilliant video. I work with PHP and MySQL and I'm forever having to look stuff up. It took half a year of looking up and using the fetch_assoc function to pull rows from the database and output them into a table before I could remember the syntax off the top of my head. I'm currently learning Laravel and I have to constantly copy & paste or look up the syntax for routes. Like you say, learning the principles behind the code so you know how to use properly is far more important. Anyway, it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one :D
