Off the top of my head I can imagine some of these have pretty easy explanations, bug stuff was likely an idea they had before setting purely on fishing and I would think fishing is allot easier to set up in the long run anyway since most of the fish dont show up until after you actually pull them out of the water. The digging minigame/shovel item are likely what would have been a pre-metal detector idea, deep sea fish would either be just more ideas for saltwater fish pool, or its own thing before they just chose having the two fishing types (4 if you include junk and rain), the raft is likely what would have been an early version of the private island idea, keys/book would maybe be an animal crossing type idea of having a house or something, book could be an early idea for sending/receiving messages pre-inbox, the map would probably be an island minimap/digging minigame idea.

yeah, these were what i had thought as well. i didnt want to be that guy though, just kind of bullshit and say what i think it does without definitive proof. there are so many videos of games cut content where people just give you some weird conspiracy and then they're just totally wrong.

the deep sea fish and boat were cut due to lack of time. you would've been able to rent a boat for the server to catch deep sea fish if there was time to add it. also the private islands were originally boats of varying sizes but west said they felt really boring.

my friend activated what is left of the deep sea fish spawners on accident today. they look like a whirl pool and they spawn on the ocean. he fished it but it seemed to give him a normal fish, but it said new discovery

This a great video! Informative and no misinformation. I’ve loved going through these files myself to add the images to the wiki. I do have some information regarding the bug net (and potentially the shovel!) West mentioned in the official discord, before it was deleted, that at some point between him abandoning the itch version of the game and starting the steam version of the game he had added more features such as the bug net but when he came back to the project for the steam release he cut content to make the game more streamlined!

there is also an actual model for the raft in the game along with a boat and a yacht. they're programmed in just like private islands so they were probably early versions of those

Every 45 minutes or so a meteor will land in the water somewhere in the map, you should be able to very faintly hear it when they come down, if you cast your lure into the meteor in the water then you can get the secret ultra rare fish
