In this video I will walk you through my client's website (built in Webflow) and show you how I structured the CMS to allow us to organize, manage, and sell hundreds of pieces of farm equipment.
We will show you how the website works, how to structure and setup the Webflow Collection, and how things work on the client's side.
CMS allows freelance web designers to deliver higher caliber work and charge more because of the functionality and ease-of-use of a website with a content management system.
This is my favorite type of website to build as a freelance web designer because you are delivering more value than just a design.
You are delivering a solution that saves the client time and hassle.

First off, amazing job with this site and with the video you put together. As to your question: How much would I charge? Looking at the overall lifetime value of this complex build, the headaches you have saved them from, the money you are putting into their pockets with client retention instead of loss, and everything else this site brings in value; I would start the pricing here at $12,500. For many it may seem far fetched but you could be potentially bringing hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue yearly back to their table, and we can not forget your skillset and time in building this site.

Excellent as always. Thank you. In relation to how much I would charge. You already asked the right question with how much additional they would earn... I'd hope you were able to get between 12K - 15K. What I also really like is the way its branded, typography, look and feel etc.. "Feels" exactly like a tractor spare parts webs site. I assume that was also you?

This is a really smart approach to the client's problem. For the equipment stock #s, did you manually create those, do some kind of Excel formula, or something else entirely?

It is really incredible what can be made with no code. If someone were to approach me with this request, I'd be thinking of setting up servers, a backend database, and a reactive front end, however I think this approach is much smarter. Two questions: 1) What type of membership do you have at WebFlow to allow you to do this? Do you need both a Site and Account plan? 2) Is it possible to simplify the lead form by dynamically placing the Equipment Stock # in the input, so the customer only has to put their name and number?

Payton, How would you prevent the client from making changes through the editor to the pages area or how to keep it so they can only add/edit listings?

Hi Peyton - you know you are my hero but I have watched this a dozen times and there is just now way at 14.09 minutes into yourr tut, my CMS filters by current category - the listings collection I have does not see the category multi-reference - perhaps this is the issue?? is this a bug or what am i doing wrong

So did you do an e-commerce? or is just CMS hosting? If you need to do a store that final client doesn't pay via internet. That final client just needs to add items to the chart and then recieve and e-mail with the list they made (and also de store recieves an email to prepare the delivery). How would you do this? Is an e-commerce website without payment? or is just a hosting CMS ?

WoW. This is one of the complex cms i saw so far. Be honest did you work on this by yourself? I bet you had at least someone else with you on your team. Now to answer your question.. i would definitely change from 12k and up. EASY. 15K. I'm curious how much you really changed. Can you share with us?

I built it all on my own! Luckily my wife helped me take all the content from their old website and transfer it to the new one. Other than that, it was a one man job! Unfortunately I told my client I would keep that confidential but it was definitely a profitable project! But certainly time consuming!

I feel like creating a CMS system that a client (who has big pockets) can manage after can easily go between 20-30K in my opinion. BTW I live in NYC. You will need to sell them the value of their investment too, of course, so they understand the benefit of having CMS system. Care to share ballpark of how much you charged? BTW I'm a beginner with WF and havent created A CMS system yet. That's my next challenge and looks like my potential client's site may require a CMS. I'd like yo know how much you charged just to see if my expectations are in tune with the market. Thanks for the video!

I totally agree with your price range! This site I did not sell for nearly as much as I should have. (Under 10k) Looking back I should have charged more and will never do something like this for lest than $15-20k min. But thanks for your input and for watching!

Hello, Liked your video tutorial and I would charge for this website at least 21000€ because of how easy this will be for the client to maintain and how much money they will save in the future.

@PaytonClarkSmith
@PaytonClarkSmith 4 жыл бұрын
Pete Thompson it is just a regular Webflow site utilizing CMS. No ecommerce. (Of course this means they can pay for equipment on this site. Only inquire about it)

@@PaytonClarkSmith Hey Payton, I'm now well in to the build of my brothers machinery website. One little tidbit I found that I thought I'd share is embedding some code to dynamically send through the product code so you don't have to display the product code field on the equipment enquiry form or get people to enter one. It's also hidden so users can't see it. I found the solution here - forum.webflow.com/t/forms-with-collections/85841. Thought I'd share in case you want to use it for Spud Equipment. Cheers!

Togunsua absolutely! You don’t really need to know any code to start in Webflow. However as you learn Webflow you should push yourself to learn and understand some code.

When you start Webflow can you play around with the CMS before you have to invest in the year subscription?
@PaytonClarkSmith
@PaytonClarkSmith 4 жыл бұрын
Johnny D yes! You can try the CMS before you ever have to pay for hosting. I know there is some sort of limit to have many cms items you can have on the free version. You also can pay hosting month to month if you would like rather than pay a year in full

@@PaytonClarkSmith Thanks for the quick reply. Thats good. I'm needing a CMS. I've been working through basic stuff with Gatsby and Netlify CMS but it's not a great solution unless you're versed in React when it comes time to customize the CMS. This looks like a solid solution.
