I've been writing scripts for years using powershell, VBS, and python. This definitely makes me feel a lot newer to scripting than I actually am, but you guys made it look so easy and fun to learn!

Great webinar. One comment is, that by using field IDs rather than the name, when you migrate your script from test to prod, the field id's may not be the same. This will obviously break the script. Something to keep in mind, as you will run into this.

Awesome tutorial! Being new-ish to Jira, but even more so to Groovy and Scriptrunner and add to that not having a huge amount of programming experience but i was able to get a working script following this.

Love this video. Helped give me a springboard to adapt for a due date post function at work. As a newbie writing scripts using ScriptRunner thank you for explaining the import sections... contractor analogy was perfect.

Thank you! This was a very helpful video for understanding the basics in a simple groovy script. I think I might have the courage to create a few of my own now, in the Dev environment of course ;)

I never thought to learning code or programming language being an MBA HR, but time made me think about little automation, and in my New job I found jira to learnt and work, now am good with but Zero in script language but I found this VIDEO is blessing for me to start, since or Admin has left I got opp to look his work, now I need to build a script which fetch details to based other custom field. Say there are custom fields called specific role and broader role Specific roles has drop down list as java developer, qa, Admin, devops etc while in broader role comes with dev, ops, others. All developer and qa comes under dev, Admin under others and devops under others Can you guide How do I start with pls

3:25 how can we use return keyword outside a function. Won't that give an error.
@luciusstark
@luciusstark 8 ай бұрын
@ less than 4 min, it seems: 1. the first script code is wrong - the "return" requires a function to work. 2. the speaker doesn't properly know what a comment is. Aight... I hope it lives up to expectations, tho.

Thanks. It will be nice if you share what version of adaptavist plugin you used with what version of intellij. How to get system field say "Issue" drop down that is with linked Issues?

I second this. I would like to know how you've setup IntelliJ IDEA and which plugins you have installed to be able to import the atlassian and adaptavist classes. Thanks!

How do I make this same to work in Create & Update Issue? the behaviour to work in Create screen & update issue too.

That's a lot . This will work on create, but on update you would need a Behaviour or a Listener

Today I was practicing what was taught and now I am getting an error --unable to resolve class timestamp. Java libraries say depreciated.

When he was editing using Intlij editor it automagically added an import which you and I have to add by hand. import java.sql.Timestamp When I added that line near the top the error went away.

My feedback would be that using intelij in the demo is not very helpful to us. If you did the same demo using ONLY the console it would be much clearer for us.
