Focused ultrasound is currently approved to treat early-stage breast cancer in Europe and is being investigated in clinical trials in the United States and around the world for early- and advanced-stage disease. These clinical trials explore the potential benefits of various focused ultrasound mechanisms of action, such as thermal ablation, radiation sensitization, enhanced drug delivery, and immunomodulation.
