You summed up my frustration perfectly in the introduction by emphasising Englishness over Britishness, quite correctly due to basic arithmetic. However, Englishness means nothing to me as a Scot, so you can imagine many Scots feel double-trapped at the moment.

I don't identify with any single nation-state. My cultural frames of reference - the literature, art, historical stories, music that have shaped me are pan-European. I had a citizenship that reflected that, & it was taken from me agst my will. I'm European 1st, British 2nd, & refuse to be broken into smaller pieces to placate separatists who think it should be acceptable to set parts of my family agst each other & discriminate agst them.
