Thank you for this video! At 12:40 why this single PGND via connection is selected to be close to IC instead of being close to or "after" passing the capacitors?

Hello, It is more imortant that there is only a single point connection of the local "noisy" GND area to the quiet GND area. If you use a GND connection with several vias appart you will introduce RF current from the "noisy" area into the area you try to keep quiet. The absolute location of that single GND connection is not that important, but you should not use several vias with a big distance, if you are in a "noisy" high eddy current infested area. GREAT webinar, thank you, im wondering what was the simulation tool you used in 26:00 to simulate the the shielding effectiveness ?

@@monolithicpowersystemsmps534 that would be perfect, it happened that I’m doing the same experiment over a several prototypes and scenarios .

A self developed (C#) grid based finite element simulation tool using using only Biot-Savart equations is used. The number of excitation sources is limited, so the simulation runs relative fast. To simulate the effect of perfect eddy current shielding planes, you mirror the excitation sources on the other side of the plane with the same distance.
