Join Collections Manager and Curator of Textiles, Rebecca Beall, Director of Collections and Research, Derek Heidemann, and Historical Clothing and Households Coordinator, Carrie Midura, as they discuss the hidden structures necessary to achieve a proper 1830s silhouette and what it’s like to regularly wear these foundational layers. Our costumed staff often get questions about their clothes and the answers to these questions lie within our textile collection. Learn about the many fabrics, layers, and padding used then and now to create a fashionable appearance, as well as the particulars of wearing historical clothing every day.
