I spent a year completely homeless .. in a large city .. up here in the north, where -40 is common during the winter .. I've been living in a small one room apartment now for about 3 months .. I feel so misplaced .. lost .. it's like living in some strange kind of limbo .. Living on the streets changes everything .. even if you escape .. it .. changes .. everything .. When you literally live on the street, you see things and experience things, the absolute horrors that people are capable of ..and your perception of seemingly simple, mundane everyday things so drastically changes that I'm not sure a person can ever really fully recover from that .. I may have a roof over my head right now, but; nothing else has changed .. The color of life will be forever muted and the few sweet things life DOES allow us will forever taste like salt to me ..
