Derrick Peterman, Ophir Photonics Director of sales USA, explains about One of the more basic laser measurements is output power and it is directly related to laser performance. There are numerous sensor technologies available to determine laser output, each with their own advantages. With all the different measurement techniques and technologies to measure laser power, it is not surprising that these measurements can appear very daunting, and erroneous results are sometimes obtained inadvertently. This talk will review the technologies and techniques for effective laser power measurement, with a story or two about where a laser power measurement went horribly wrong.
