If you're wondering why you don't see any new open top revolvers like this, it's because modern rounds are too powerful and end warping the frame so it wouldn't line up/close. These older open type revolvers were all low pressure rounds so it wasn't an issue.

You look at the shells and you know thats going to hurt if you stop one.😬 I live not far from the old Factory site in the Industrial West Midlands on the other side we had BSA and to the SW there was Royal Enfield... built like a gun... We also had Forgemasters but their guns were mades in inches bore and measured in calibers 😂 for landscaping RN style.

I wish they would bring the design back. I love top break revolvers. There was that one british top break revolver coming based on webley in .357 mag with 7 round capacity, but the company went under to my understanding. Well the guns would have been i think 10k so even if they would have continued i would never had one. Well maybe one day ruger for example makes cool design. They could make sturdier double action schofield for example

@@lalli8152 I think permanent top strap revolvers are stronger but I prefer the look and operation of the Webley. I have two of them and they shoot reliably and very accurately. If they made a 44 or 357 in top break, I'd definitely buy one. I'm wondering whether anyone could make one as well as Webley? The pressure to cut quality is so harsh nowadays.

@@NoosaHeads Yeah the british Anderson Wheeler mark VII .357 magnum was definetly not going to cut corners, just too expensive, but that thing was cool as heck. I think so too that the type of revolvers are inherently weaker, but they could still i think design .44 mag one pretty easily with modern technology. I think if ruger for example would make their own version of .357 mag top break they could make cheaper regular model then higher end one like many of their revolvers are

This reminded me of my time with my grandfather as a child as Webleys were one of his favorite pieces to collect! He had one .455 and several of the .38 models, including a special anniversary edition. Thanks for the memories! :)

What’s interesting is that the cylinder wasn’t shaved and what I mean by that is gun owners here in the USA would shave off a little bit of the cylinder so they can load .45 ACP (with aid of moonclips) and shoot it.

The one I purchased many years ago has the cylinder shaved so 45 ACP in moon clips fit. Pressures of 45 ACP is higher than 455 rounds. I hand load. After checking brass size I found 45 GAP is about the same size as 455. I load 455 charges in 45 GAP brass then into moon clips. Easy to keep separate from my 45 ACP rounds. They shoot well when loaded with 260 grain cast bullets. Great revolvers.

Great video. The training manual shows that the operator grasps the barrel and pulls the handle down to safely eject the cartridges. In other words the barrel doesn't move, the handle/grip moves down...stops the cases falling back into the mechanism.

One of my favorite actions in the entire history of firearms is just that! 🤩 The so-called top-break action with automatic ejector! This is because unlike all other actions (including those of modern weapons) it is the most advanced as well as the most ingenious and also at the same time coolest action of all time in my opinion. This is for a sea of reasons including: the fact that the shells are all ejected simultaneously automatically once the weapon is opened, the weapon is much faster to reload, etc. The only thing I hate about this action is the fact that they have abandoned it and thrown it into oblivion for who knows how many years now!😢 I honestly as a weapons expert say that this action would deserve to come back in force (in a modernized version of course) with some new features to make it very revolutionary. For example that you could make a revolver with this type of action but with an automatic extractor that is not one piece but is six extractors that each work independently of the other. Making it so that when you open the weapon only the fired cartridge cases are ejected. I sincerely hope that it can really come back in force in a modernized version this action because it is really one of the most beautiful that has ever been invented in the history of firearms in my opinion 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝
