It's amazing how many fake "restoration" video creators are unaware that plastic and wood don't rust, and will just spray an entire gun or knife down with artificial corrosion.

Was this firearm originally nickel plated or was it blued? I have never seen a slide turn out that way before, is it the blueing process you use or a totally different metal from the frame. I have seen results for Hot salt blueing which most gunsmiths use but what type of bluing did you use? I have built several 1919A4’s in my time but most have been parkerized, after they come out of the boiling hot water rinse they go into a bath of Dextron II ATF fluid for 24 hours. BTW if you ever work with cloth belt fed MG's we soak the belt in ATF fluid as well. Makes the gun run smoother and helps preserve the belt. Now disintegrating links are another story.
