WeBoost Drive Reach RV Test Results

I spent a few months coming up with a solution that would allow me to work while camping.
Starlink isn’t ready for me so I gave WeBoost a try.
In the end the solution was WeBoost with the outdoor antenna on the top of a flag pole (shown in the video). I set my phone *right next to the indoor antenna*.
Turn the hotspot on and tether to the phone. I also learned not all cell phone carriers have the same coverage. Particularly in rural areas.
AT&T and Verizon in comparison were both equally as reliable and speedy in town and on the central coast of California. But in the mountains Verizon had full LTE where AT&T had no service. This prompted me to get a prepaid Verizon plan and swap SIM cards.
This setup allowed for me to work from my camper in my happy place. I found using a vpn and remote desktop I used about 1.5gb per day. This included some FaceTime calls and Facebook/Instagram flicking.
The investment was completely worth it to me if I consider I did not have to use vacation days to set out into the mountains and beach.
I hope you find this video helpful. I learned two key things (aside from not all carriers being equal)
1. This is a signal amplifier. If there is no signal it doesn’t make one.
2. The indoor antenna is weak. I may see if it can be upgraded but putting it right next to the phone does the trick for now.

LOL - nice way to shout out your buddy! But that is support cool with the WeBoost. Did you have it the other day when I drove by? I'm still REALLY bummed I missed you on that trip - and surprised you recognized my truck... I mean what are the odds of that!

Yah I didn’t have to take any vacation days that trip I was able to work in the mornings and have a little excursion in the afternoon then come back for dinner and watch the sunset. That spot is one of the best to get service from since it’s right on the road we were almost face to face when you drove by… but I was behind a tinted window.

Hi there! Hoping you might be able to help with my Weboost? It works great but as you know, you can't go more than a few feet from the interior antenna or it will stop working. We use our Weboost mainly at our cabin. Do you know if it is possible to set up either a router or a repeater type system with the Weboost in order to get more distance from the interior antenna? Thank much for any info you can share. Rich W.

My solution is to put the phone right next to the interior antenna and turn that phone into a hot spot, connect a secondary device to use the network. I’ve read of people with routers that have SIM cards in them and are capable of grabbing signal from multiple sources ie wifi and 4/5g.. But it’s a considerable investment on top of a considerable investment. My intent when the time is right and it’s an option is star-link.

It amplifies your cell signal. This would help with streaming yes.
