Tried it before... It actually works out to about $7/hr on average for all the work involved in producing a product the author will actually pay for. If you're very lucky. These projects that pay real money are actually few and far between. This is a job that makes more sense for a voice actor's teenage child... That kid would have access to equipment, but won't be reliant on the income.

This is a great idea. I'm almost 50, but my voice never matured past 3 years old. Lol. I have always wanted to do voice-overs to earn some extra income. As a preschool teacher, I love to read children's books. Especially when I can read a book in a way that engages my little audience. I am 76 years old, I have been a Substitute teacher for 5 years and in reading to my little ones, I always use voice over and they love it! I have always been told for decades that my voice sounds like a young girl, so I might just put that into use to make extra money. I am sort of getting tired of getting up everyday going to work is why I am wanting to land an At Home Job that suits me. However, my preference is a Part Time at home job! @@5Kwame Hello! This was like 20 years ago at Cal State Fullerton. It actually wasn’t a company. It was for a department of the school that helped students with special needs. We recorded text books onto cassette tapes. It wasn’t as professional of course. I’m sure most colleges & Universities have problems like these set up. Good money if you can get into the program. I did look into this after watching your video. however, when I tried to do you didn't mention that you need your own Amazon account because you have to provide a valid TIN (tax identification information) to use ACX. Now, my husband and I have an Amazon account that we use for the household, meaning we all share it but it's in his name. SHE FAILED TO DISCUSS THIS POINT AND IT REQUIRES VERY SPECIFIC EQUIPMENT AND IT ISN'T CHEAP. IT REQUIRES A STUDIO WITH NO NOISE.

@@songbirds48306 padding a room with towels from a second hand shop can accomplish this better than expensive equipment. And a $40 mic is often better than expensive ones. Also, lots of libraries have soundproof study rooms you can book for free

I haven't done this yet, but I would suggest a microphone and a computer for sure. I can't imagine doing all this from a phone, because an iPhone can record voices pretty well, BUT if you're trying to read off something, having the phone close to your mouth and scrolling to read the content is gonna be tough. A computer will help with having a bigger, wider screen to read from.

You'll notice that Diamond responded to many other questions but none that ask for details about how to do this. You need a professional microphone. ACX will not provide you with any equipment. These are their recommendations: A comfy chair that won’t creak A script stand A microphone (preferably a large-diaphragm condenser) Mic stand or deskmount Mic Shockmount A Pop filter XLR Cable to connect microphone to an audio interface Audio interface (such as an MBox) A reasonably fast and quiet computer External Hard Drive (solid-state drive preferable as they are typically quiet and fast) Recording/Editing Software (such as Audacity, Twisted Wave, Wavelab, or Pro Tools) Material to deaden sound Lighting that is easy on the eyes (Avoid fluorescents or anything with a dimmer)

Can you talk about what it entails to create your own recording studio? As I looked closer into this, there is a lot of equipment needed besides a microphone. I guess ACX can turn you down if your recording doesn’t sound professional.
