2:49 That is so accurate statement. They snatched great points even if they don't have the speed. Imola, Cota, Sao Paolo are perfect examples.

Something worth noticing is that 2022 actually had the closest championship battle when the 36 alpine and thr 8 toyota came to the weekend tied on points

@AcManoloxkasha I wish Toyota got either 23 or 24 Le Mans just so the haters couldn't say the only won with no competition, but I guess the 23 season showed that and they won Imola this year. I say this as a BMW and Glickenhaus supporter.

The #6 Porsche has the best and most complete driver line-up in sportscar racing imo. Estre is stupidly fast, Vanthoor super consistent and smart and Lotterer may not have the ultimate pace anymore but his huge amount of experience makes up for it. It's looking good and I hope they bring this one home. A real shame that Lotterer won't remain a part of the team next year, so I want him to go out on a high. Also, let's not forget that last year, Porsche was struggling badly. They had severe tire-wear issues on most tracks and were generally lacking pace as well compared to Toyota and Ferrari. To figure all this it out over the winter and be competitive almost anywhere this year is insane. However, Bahrain is likely to be favoring Toyota, as mentioned in the video, so winning the constructors will be a lot harder. Though I will have to correct one thing: It is only the manufacturers highest finishing car that will score points for the manufacturers championship. So basically, if Toyota wins, which, given their performance last year and their car's kindness on tires (Bahrain has high tire-deg.), is quite likely, they win the title, even if Porsche comes 2nd with either the #5 or #6. Because it's an 8h race, points times 1.5 are awarded, so 38 for 1st, 27 for 2nd.

2:19 39 if you count the pole position bonus I’m pretty sure if Porsche’s #6 qualifies on pole, then Toyota’s #7 (or Kobayashi/De Vries considering how Conway missed LeMans) are out of title contention even if they win and Porsche DNF’s

4:37 and that includes Hyperpole. If the car taking it just so happens to be the #6 Porsche, they'll be out of title contention before the race even starts. The #6 wins all potential tiebreakers with its title rivals by virtue of most 2nd places

There is a bit of a mistake with the manufacturer points. As for teams with 2 cars only the better placed car scores points towards the championship, not both. Though next season they will score with 2 cars I believe due to the 2 car mandate.

Not sure one of these 3 brands will win the race. BMW and Alpine are getting stronger and have poved that they can now be in the mix to win a race.

Not sure about BMW. Bahrain is pretty hard on tires and according to BMW driver Dries Vanthoor, they struggle on circuits like that. Alpine however might be able to get their first Hypercar win.

Nice to still have a title race in the marquee class going into the final race. I would like to see Toyota win the championship but I think Porsche will do enough to secure it.

I mean... they just won back to back Le Mans. That's hardly a poor showing in their first 2 seasons back.

@@tajjohal2841 Their car is a 'Le Mans car' though. It's decent on the other tracks but mostly built to work well at the big race. The Toyota and especially the Porsche are more complete.

@@lucvincentmetz8144 Yeh I probably disagree that the Ferrari isn't as complete as those cars. If we look at Spa this year, a win was basically taken from Ferrari as a result of extending the race time. Don't mistake me saying this as complaining and being a Ferrari fanboy, I'm just simply saying that nothing about their car caused them to not take the win that day. Let's look at Imola... absolutely trash strategy by them when the conditions became changeable and they didn't pit 1 of the cars onto wets. Again, nothing about the car that day led them to losing a strong shot at the win.

@@tajjohal2841 I partly agree. Forgot about Imola actually. However, I believe the BoP was favoring them a bit over the first half of the year. Which is nothing against them or the organizers, it's just that this is still a relatively new category or at least unlike GT3 BoP, it hasn't been done for over 15 years, so it's no wonder they're not always on point. However, the only car that was actually competitive on every track this year was the 963. Not a potential winner everywhere, but at least one of the two factory cars was always at or near the front of the pack. And Toyota somehow almost always found a way to score decent points. Whether it was through their pace or just good race execution. And Spa is actually a circuit that is similar to Le Mans in many ways. High-speed, flowing and few low speed corners. The only difference is, that you drive with more downforce at Spa. The Ferrari worked really well there last year as well so this being one of their stronger circuits isn't a huge surprise. Also it's worth mentioning, that Ferrari have a very good driver line-up. Good enough to drive around some of the 'problems' which might come along with having a car that is geared more towards working on high-speed layouts. Though I think it's worth mentioning that Ferrari were just off the pace in Qatar and Fuji. So I wouldn't call their car an allrounder or a complete car. At least not as complete as the Porsche.

I quite well aware of the points system for the WEC, just got it wrong while recording and didn’t catch it while editing. I likely had next year’s WEC points system or IMSA’s in mind at time. Thanks for the correction.

TBH, Porsche has a very high chance of winning. Unless they somehow crash and retire... Nonetheless, it's a great season

Toyota has been the champion in every racing series in Le Mans series, GT series, Super GT, WRC, NASCAR, Dakar, F1, NHRA & Formula D in everywhere for decades. I think Porsche could be the winner of WEC 2024 season but it has been the champion for decades like Toyota & Ferrari in GT series, Le Mans series & Porsche Cup series while Ferrari has been champion mostly in F1 but now in WEC since 2023. These 3 manufactures are the world's champion manufacturers not only in WEC, but in everywhere & every series for decades.

PORSCHE WINS BOTH TITLES. We didn't own the podiums this season for nothing. Hopefully, Toyota and Ferrari drivers drive a clean race this time, or at the very least, stay away from our Porsches.
