Amazing video and images Ray, love to see real scenarios in cramped/cluttered rooms as we often have to work with :) as you say it's about how we adapt to difficult / less than ideal situations that make us professionals - and we are then honestly capturing the weddings, not curating photoshoots! Ace.

Thanks josh. Appreciate that mate. Yeah weddings aren’t always perfect shooting conditions are they lol

Just catching up with these Ray, they’re awesome. During the drinks after the ceremony, did you use any flash? The room looked pretty dark but your photos are so clean. Same question for the speeches? Thanks for all your hard work, greatly appreciated 😊

I can’t remember haha. Most likely not as I try to shoot natural all day. If you can see flash pops in the video maybe I did bud have to check but most cases I just shoot ambient.

Nice video Ray! What was the sunset app that you used?
@RaySawyerPhoto Жыл бұрын
you can use photo pills or the photographers ephemeris - I have both but tend to use the latter

Banding is a nightmare Ray - I'll remember the 1/100 tip!
@RaySawyerPhoto Жыл бұрын
yeah I have A9 so its technically not banding on my system its more exposure changes from shot to shot as the lights flicker. how they put anti-flicker in the A7III but not in an A9. surely a firmware update would sort it. but yeah as they walk down the aisle I shoot normal 1/250 but when static getting married if I see the problem on my rear view I drop to 1/100 and it clears it up. some lights may have different frequencies and shutter may have to go lower but I would never go past 1/100, dont even like going to that speed lol. but burst mode and relatively static subjects its ok

I'm still A7 series, and still have nightmares about HSS and efcs!

@@RaySawyerPhoto nice and simple. Bright daylight, wide open, ad600 and 1/800 or so shutter. Massive banding top to bottom

Composition wise you seem to shoot to the left or right of the grid is this purposeful or instinct?
@RaySawyerPhoto Жыл бұрын
instinct now. I shoot a lot of "rule of 3rd" with subjects on the "lines" but I'll often place subjects outside of the lines too for interest.
