Great advice in that last minute. I hope people who watch this take that as training advice rather than trying to follow this schedule 😂

Jim, you were 12 or 13 at the first Arch and already teaching me stuff, warming up on my projects and so on. You're not the reason I, for one, do believe a lot in the fact that people come with different skill levels from the start. Sure I was already old and you must have started young, but there's lots of evidence around me that not all those who started at my age are now at the same level, even though they invested the same amount of work etc. And the reverse is also true, not all those who started at your age ended up where you are, despite sometimes equal dedication. Recognising that some are 'luckier' than others in some areas is not meant to imply they work less. Look at Janja: I don't think there is something she does more than others, yet she's destroying the field. Desgranges worked his socks off all his life, and 'only' got one overall title.

Climbing is so wonderful, but the commitment with it can be such a BEAR! Such odd strengths required (fingers) that you can’t get anywheres else. And to top it, it disappears stupidly fast. Climbing always feels like an endless journey.
