I'm working on a video right now to try to get up tonight. (Sunday) I just got super busy and I had to stop putting out video's for a bit to catch up on what I needed done on the farm home and mom and dads place. Sometimes there aint enough hours in the day to get everything done but now things have showed down some and I got to catch up on video's. Bandit

They were calling for rain on Friday of that week and boy did it ever rain that weekend, If I remember right we got like 1 1/2" over those 3 days and it stayed wet and cool to cold for the rest of the year. That was the last week of good harvest weather for beans for 2022 and was I ever glad to get done when I did. That day was busy but the next day was even busier trying to get everything done before the rain and I really dont know how but I did get it all cleaned up and put away. It was sure nice to sit and watch it rain inside the warm house ! LOL What a load off your mind ! Bandit

LOL I just got to sit down and crank out the video's to catch up with everyone. There have been some additions to the farm witch you'll see before long and a few trips after things I acquired too. I just really cant believe how busy this year has been. Crops were planted early and everything looked good for a changed but you know thats not good ! I was really happy he came over to help me that day for sure as the weather was about to change big time for the worse. But it was an odd pairing for sure, A little 4400 and a big 8820 is kind of funny to see together ! LOL But if you notice in the video I'm keeping right up with him so I figure I was doing pretty good with the old 4400. This was taken Wednesday and Friday came a lot of rain that didnt stop till after the first of the year, So I was really happy he came to give me a hand that day. Bandit

Wow, Don - I don't know how you sneaked this video up a week ago without me seeing it. Glad you got your combine all fixed up. Other than that initial carnage, the 4400 seems to be working good. And that's the way to get the beans done in a hurry, with the 8820 also in the field. That 8820 is some machine!

I really need to get the next video put up but just cant find time to do it ! I just cant seam to find a spare minuet in the day without something new popping up that needs done and I'm about wore out ! LOL My list of things to do just keeps getting longer and never shorter so I'm just hitting the important stuff for now. I'm really glad my cousin came over that day, He finished up cutting all his beans about a mile from me and came over to give me a hand because the weather was about to turn really wet and cold and it did just that ! It's not often you ever got to see an 8820 and 4400 working in the same field so this was a little treat for everyone . Cousin said after we got done he was amazed at how I was keeping right up with him in the field and at how clean my sample was compared to his. The ruts left by the spray guy were something else and no matter how slow you go you just cant react fast enough when you cross them, I had to replace about 8 feet of the sickle sections and about 7 guards because of the ruts and that was not fun ! I went to an auction a month ago and got a case of 12 new boxes of JD sickle sections for $10 ! I'm set for life now ! LOL Sometimes you just get lucky ! The latest project has been to fix dads IH 12 foot disk from ware a tree fell on it and bent to frame up to ware there was no way to fix it, But I just bought a IH 370 disk that the gangs are shot but has a perfect frame so its time to put them both together to make a good one. You can never have enough good disks to use ! Bandit

@@banditfarmer1900 My friend Cory has a JD 9500 combine and he marvels at how clean my grain is coming out of the 4400. He claims there's no way he can set his combine to get his grain that clean. Good idea on the IH disks. If you can put 2 together to make one good one, sounds like the way to go (and economical too). Sometimes there just seems to be no end to the things that need to be done.

@@pagrainfarmer Its funny how the smaller combines can get a cleaner sample than the big ones but its the truth ! Yesterday I put the back gangs on the other frame and figured I'd have in done in a couple of hours, Boy was I wrong ! I got to unbolt the front gangs and move the center bearing out 1 blade on both sides cause the U bolt comes out hitting the cross brace for the hitch ! After 2 hours I finally got the end nut off with the help of the fire wrench ! I called it a day after that cause the outer spool wont move after the nut came off. Maybe tomorrow I'll start taking it apart and I know it's going to be a fight ! I just knew it was going back together too easy and now I know I know why ! LOL Oh the fun never ends ! Bandit

That’s great! Two JD combines in the same field! Getting the job done! I remember Dad’s little old Massey 35 combine was so slow, but it was our combine for many years! One time our neighbor had his brother in law combining his wheat with a MF 410 and it broke down when he was about halfway done! He said it would be a few days waiting on a part and rain was on the way, and he asked Dad if he could come down and help him finish up the wheat with the 35! He said “It won’t be as fast as the 410,but I’ll see what I can do!” Luckily he got the job done and Dad often laughed about how he never thought anyone would ever get him to do a custom job with that little rig, but it saved the day!! And our neighbor was grateful!!

This is one you never really see working together, A 4400 and 8820 Getting it done ! My cousin said after we were done that he was surprised at how I was keeping right up with him ! But to be honest this was the second day of cutting and I was still getting the combine in its grove ! LOL When we got into the grassy area he had to slow down a bit but the old 4400 was just eating it up and was ready for more. I've run a lot of different small SP combine and after you run any of them you get a good feel for how they run and what they will do, Some are a little slower than others (mostly in the header speed) but they all did a good job cutting and cleaning from what I remember . I've learned to lever underestimate any smaller combine, They can really surprise you what they can really do. Bandit

Hey Don - It's Thursday June 22. I didn't know how else to get ahold of you, but I was in Mount Perry, Ohio today and bought a really nice Oliver 770, which I will now have to go back and haul home. Hay Charlie I just got to this about 5 to 10 friday night but I'm glad to hear you got a 770 cause I know your going to like it. A couple of weeks ago I was bidding in a 770 diesel with 3pt ! Engine was stuck tires shot (they were new and sit flat for years!) but I was looking at it for the 3pt and the electrical hydraulics it had on it. But I set a limit on it and it brought more than I thought it would be worth. It would have been nice to have factory 3pt on mine but I chose to let it pass. Me and Craig did manage to find Ross the Oliver man and couple more 1365 olivers cheap, One even runs ! Also found a White 4x40" quick hook up corn head cheap for $125 ! Now hes got a trailer load to come get and take home. Oh I got a wide front for my 1850 now so sometime in the near future I have that to install on the 1850, Thank god I have a skid steer to move stuff around ! As soon as it dries up that is going to be some more tile put in the fields ware it likes to be wet. Its been a mighty busy year so far. Oh I saw the Oliver tractor ride and I really like that one ! We lost a good Oliver friend last friday that was about a mile from the farm. He bought the farm 41 years ago and there was a 20 acre field feet from his front door that he wanted to buy but the woman that owned it would never rent it to him or sell it to him. She died last summer and 3 weeks ago they closed on that 20 acres that her son sold to him, He died 2 weeks later. But he said before I die I'll own it ! He was true to his word. Bandit

@@banditfarmer1900 Wow - sounds like you've been busy! I've been looking for either a 770 or 880 for a while now. Always wanted a 3-digit Oliver. This one came up on Marketplace. The guy dropped the price significantly after having it posted for a while. So, I messaged him and made arrangements to see it yesterday (Thursday). It's a gas model, but has all 4 new tires, a newly rebuilt engine, and a new radiator. The paint is also good, but could stand a little shining up. I ran it, and it runs great. The owner was a really nice guy and he could see how much I loved Olivers (partly from my Oliver hat and Oliver license plate on the front of my truck). I called him today to make arrangements to go pick it up this coming Tuesday and he told me that while I was out testing it, he told his daughter that he wanted this tractor to go home with me because he knew it would have a good home. I guess he told her he would have accepted whatever offer I made. I didn't know this of course. I came back from the test ride and made an offer about 20% lower than his new lower asking price, figuring maybe I could get him a little lower. He never hesitated, but stuck out his hand and said "sold". I almost fell off the tractor. It needs some little things, like lights and a muffler, but that's small stuff. Looking forward to picking it up this coming week. We had a blast on that tractor ride. Just a bunch of redneck Pennsylvania farm boys having some innnocent fun. I uploaded a second tractor ride video showing my friend Dave starting up the "1800T" (as he calls it) and the shit my friends gave him when it wouldn't start right away (the battery cable was loose!). Some of the guys I think were skeptical about the ride and thought it might be a waste of time, but by the end of the day, they were all asking if we could do it again and they want to make it even bigger. (But still keep it Oliver!) Glad you're keeping Ross busy with stuff. We've become friends and I called him last week and he helped me out with a question about my White 2-110. That's really cool that you got a wide front end for your 1850. Hope to see some video.

@@pagrainfarmer It's been pretty much one thing to the next for me so far this year, But things have finally slowed down a good bit. I'm really glad you got that 770 and I know your going to give her plenty of love at your place, She might even be the new tractor for tractor rides ! LOL There isnt anything worse than having a tractor that goes down at the most in opportune time after bragging on it ! LOL BTDT and its not funny ! Worst thing is when its something really stupid you over looked like a loose battery cable ! It's gods way of keeping you humble ! You know Ross has a trailer load sitting over hear and if he stops by my place he might have a bunch more to load on it for a really good load ! He might be able to make one good tractor out of the 2 he's got over hear and have parts for the other one he has sitting at his place. At least he has plenty of parts and tires for the other ones. I've been looking for a wide front for the 1850 sense I got it, Dont get me wrong I like the narrow front on the 1850 but it needs rebuilt and in the long run its cheaper to put the wide front under it but I have one now. Getting it off the 1855 will be easy but putting it under the 1850 will be a lot of work because everything on the front of the tractor has to come off . I think it will take me a hot NY minute to get this job done ! LOL Bandit

@@pagrainfarmer I've put several wide front on 50 series tractors over the years, All of them were narrow fronts that were shot and it was cheaper to put a wide front on than it was to fix the narrow front. Worse part is taking the grill and radiator out to get to the steering box and I got to go a little farther on mine because the one hydraulic lines is bad at the fitting on the steering box, If I'm lucky while its apart I can cut the feral end off the line and make a new one and get it back together. At least Oliver made it pretty easy to change the front ends and made them all the same bolt pattern and 50 and 55 series will interchange pretty easy. Pretty sure I'll end up buying new tie rods for both sides because this front end and tractor have been sitting sense about 1985 and outside about the last 5 or 6 years and its narrowed all the way in and I doubt I can get them to move again. My 1850 has the rear wheels set out for plowing so I got to open the front end up a few holes to make it match the back tires. I hope you get good weather for the tractor move on Tuesday cause it sure it fun doing it in the rain ! They were talking all week about the big storm this weekend, Going to drop 1 to 2 inches. Well the rains came threw and all we got was a couple of sprinkles out of it. Ross on the other hand looks like he got 3 to 4 inches over in Indiana today ! Now I got to scramble tomorrow and maybe do a little replanting if I can find seed. Always something aint it ! Bandit

Great video bandit. My fist combine was a diesel 4400 and a 213 platform with a 443 high tin. Great machines and I wish I would have had a camera mounted on the back as well. Great for watching the chopper or if you have to back in the barn really a great view.

Thank You Matthew, I'm not the biggest fan of the 4400 but I got to say I've had less problems with this combine than I have any other I've had over the years. But when you get the chance to buy a 1 owner 1200 hour machine with a 213 flex for $1000 you dont argue with the price you just buy it and run it ! The back up camera I got for Christmas one year and it wouldnt fit the truck but as I found out would work on the combine so I installed it. It's really hard to see anything behind you from the seat in the cab but I can glance over to look at the right side of the head and the monitor is right there in plain sight and easy to see whats going on behind you without turning your head to look. Anything you can put on a combine to make it easer to use hay I'm all for it ! Now I dont think I'll own a combine without one now ! Bandit

Taken Wednesday Nov 9th 2022. I started the day early fixing the 213 flex head of all the broken guards and cycle sections from trying to cut threw the ruts left by the spray guy last spring. My cousin knew I was having trouble and as he just finished his beans for the year a couple miles away he came over to give me a hand getting these out before the wet weather sets in. There calling for a lot of rain and cooler temps on Friday so they got to get cut now ! Not often you see a JD 4400 and JD 8820 working together in a field so we got to moving right along getting it done ! Everything was really running smooth and nether of us had any problems cutting witch is unusual to say the least ! That back up camera comes in handy just to look over to everything working on the back side of the combine while your running. I didnt notice it till I watched the video but you could see my cousin cutting on the monitor so you get to see both combine working ! LOL 2 for 1 deal ! We finished up in the dark and man was the back field hard to cut, It got still and the dust just hung in the air and with 2 combines in the field it made it really hard to see what was going on ! Tomorrow is going to be a really busy day for me, I have ruts to disk down a big log to get out of the field get set up to load the beans out of the wagons and get everything put up before it rains and gets cold. We were in the 70's that day and a couple of days later we were in the low 40's and raining ! I dont know what happened to the sound on part of the video but its a new one on me !
