Jenna Ortega is killing this role. For the record, she did most of her stunts, she learned to play on cello, learned the fencing and fighting too, and some other things you'll see later. She choreographed a whole scene in episode 4.

But I will admit that there was more chemistry between them than any of her boring love interest, it is still made clear that they were not gay baiting whatsoever. They just vibe to better. If they decide to make them gay in the future, that's fine, but they honestly can't see how she was a better love interest for Wednesday at all. In fact, I don't think Wednesday is even interested that much in love to begin with.

Jenna Ortega is the perfect Wednesday. Show was entertaining asf too. It’s definitely getting a 2nd season after breaking Stranger Things’s record. Only complaint I have is get rid of the love interests. Wednesday doesn’t need them and it felt forced. Other than that the show was fire. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more.

@@zerenityzerene4410 It's the role they were given. The actors did a fine job, but the lines they got made them come off as regular parents rather than Addams. They might've needed to enunciate more too though. Not too big of a deal since they were barely relevant in the show. Could've even removed them altogether after the first episode, and had any two other characters do their parts in the past, and it would've worked all the same. Maybe even better.

One of the best things about this series is that Wednesday finally has equals around her. In all the previous portrayals, it was always the Addams against the world, where the kooky family always managed to outweird everyone else. But in this school, everyone is weird, and Wednesday isn't scaring anyone just by being who she is. That makes for a much more interesting dynamic.

They gave Jenna Ortega a good amount of creative influence in the show, my personal favorite decision she made is that Wednesday does not blink unless she’s very uncomfortable. She blinks maybe an average of twice an episode, otherwise she just stares blankly. There’s a lot of acting done with her eyes.

When they were filming the show, Jenna didn’t blink in one of the scenes and Tim liked it, so he told her to keep doing that. So you’ll see that Wednesday never blinks, except when she’s caught off guard or uncomfortable

This show is honestly really great, and is a perfect retooling of the Addams Family canon. This and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (maybe minus the series finale) are great ways of taking existing source material and updating them for modern audiences. Whether or not you're into the romantic elements will vary, but it does excellently at weaving a larger mystery with moments of supernatural intrigue.

Fun fact, the teacher who gave Wednesday the flower is Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the two live-action Addams Family movies from the early 1990s (which also starred Raul Julia as Gomez, Anjelica Huston as Morticia and Christopher Lloyd as Uncle Fester). Ricci also worked with Tim Burton in Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Fun fact: Piranhas are indeed scavengers, they only eat things that are dead, they are so much of a scavenger fish that you could be in the middle of feeding frenzy and not be touched at all, you might receive small bites, but not really devastating bleeding bites.

First reactors I see, who question the piranhas part. Good for you. Where did she get them from? Well, it's a fantasy show after all. And yeah: they're not bloodthirsty. As long as you don't bleed, you can swim with them, and they won't attack you. PLUS: they probably wouldn't like the chlorine in the water. Also: only in this first shot she's wearing "normal" shoes...later on it's always these massive "boots", that don't really fit the Wednesday persona.

Fun Fact: Thing is not special effects or cgi Thing is a real person who was casted to literally be a hand (I saw I couple pictures from behind the scenes of the guy just standing there with his hand through a hole of some sort. Dunno if it was cardboard or special small wall they have that is easy to edit out, but I do know that the top part of Thing *the wrist* is fake)

Roshi - as far as how Morticia reacted to Wednesday's comment about not having a heart, remember that the Addams' tend to react to those kinds of comments from people positively. They basically work the opposite of regular people - they view cheerful, bright things as horrible and dark, brooding things as uplifting. Their attitudes are flipped but their intentions are good. (Also they may be immortal? That was always a running gag in the movies, that they'd be "killed" but come back. Pugsley used to get killed all the time.)

Piranhas aren't scavengers but it is a common misconception they just hunt everything in the water. A group of piranhas would attack a man in water but there were like 15 kids swimming. The Piranhas would have been scared away by all those big bodies moving. They tend to be very timid unless they are starving
