Two years ago Gonzalo Lira (R.I.P.) said that Russian goal is to make this war boring. And that is what is happening. Ukrainians lose hundreds or thousands of troops being hammered by Russian aryillery around some hard to find village. Soon, Ukraine will run out of recruits who reslly want to fight against Russians. In same time, their military supplies slowly dwindle as people abroad get sick and tired of neverending war.

The low precipitation reminds me of the periodic droughts that were causing famines in Ukraine before the Soviet Union industralised agriculture, planted the forest lines and built water reservoirs. Considering the loss of Kakhovka reservoir, this raises the question of a possible crop failure, especially in the areas close to the frontline, for obvious reasons, including the ongoing war itself. On the other hand, such territories are mostly evacuated.

The EU never wanted this war. It is another American proxy war that only got hot when the price of gas in the EU fell below the price of natural gas in the USA. The EU have initiated several peace agreements that were sabotaged by the Americans and the UK. This is why Zelensky took his 'victory plan' to Washington and not Brussels. As a consequence most weapons sent by the EU were either end of life or actually obsolete - and in small quantities. If you want to get real ( rather than delusional ) for a minute, the EU has a population of 440 million: far bigger than the USA and three times the size of Russia. It has a standing military of around 2 million and some of the most advanced weapons on the planet. Russia is having trouble coping with a small nation of some 30 million, a creaking economy and obsolete weapons. There's no way it would cope if the EU got serious.

But why are they not seeking alternatives and frankly sacrifice themselves?? Im not talking about politicians we all know why they dont want the war to end!! I recommend Blood Red Snow as a great one. There is also a FANTASTIC book about the Italian mountain regiment who were at Stalingrad. Their experiences made me cry. Truly people are so brainwashed by propaganda they forget these were humans - something my grandad who was part of it, always stressed. All sides were victims of the powerful.

I believe main Russian goal will be to win those 4 Oblasts they put in their Constitution; right now, from those, they are the furthest from capturing Donetsk oblast. At current pace they will win it by the end of 2025 (of course, if there are no negotiations earlier). By summer 2026 they'll win the rest, after that they'll probably initiate negotiations themselves. I'm not sure what can Ukraine do. Russia will probably demand Ukraine gives up those 4 Oblasts + gives up from NATO at any point. Is that acceptable to Ukraine in exchange for saving lives of soldiers ?

1. How many Russia would take - depend on Ukrainian behavior 2. Ukraine army from now would fall apart at excelerate pace and when they loose well fortify positions in Donetsk oblast (with wast city agglomerations) - this would end of Ukraine 3. My take - nobody would trust Ukraine "give up on Nato promise". Ukraine and USA proof themselves to be awful diplomats. They time and time again cheat or break all agreements. Thats mean - Ukraine would suffer until the painful end

Lindsay Graham is now all over the news talking about the need to fully supply Israel for an all-out war strategy. He’s even trying to co-opt the natural disaster in the Carolina’s (his home state for which he is sent to DC in the first place) and Tennessee and use it as reason to further support Israel. You sound like you are up to date on things. Did you see the claimed Russian shooting of POWs on the 1st or 2nd? I looked at the location and it seems unlikely Russians were shooting there. There is an open field and AFU trenches 400m away, and they were standing on the northern (AFU side) of the treeline. Very suss claim..

It's on the AFU side of the treeline and 400m from AFU trenches. I just don't see how that would make sense - the Russians would have to have zero fear of being spotted etc.
