That final scene was honestly SO painful because it showed their biggest problems. Stolas while genuine in his feelings, unintentionally controls the conversation and automatically assumes what Blitzø is thinking while not actually ASKING what he wants, and Blitzø doing everything that he can to completely ignore any real conversation about their issues to avoid getting hurt, and completely lashing out when he can't. This results in Stolas thinking that his first friend and love only saw him as a privileged prince despite all his efforts to show him that he always saw them as equals, and Blitzø once again adding another person to the list of people who he genuinely loves but pushed away because he was too afraid to show it, right as he was finally allowing himself to be vulnerable. You know they're eventually going to make up, but it's definitely going to take them both jumping through A LOT of hurdles before their relationship can even remotely become a healthy one.

@@Kiki_Does_ArtI think it's more people trying to defend Blitz's very valid reaction to the situation. A lot of people have been pretty solidly on Stolas' side for everything lately, but both sides are failing to communicate properly. Stolas has been intentionally vague, choosing to hint at his feelings rather than express them. Also, Blitz HAS noticed the hints. Blitz just dismisses it immediately after because it would make their relationship complicated. Blitz also wants the relationship, and since it was all built off the need for the grimoire it would create some serious whiplash to go from: "Time to bang" to "Oh he's dumping me" to "He's actually in love with me" without even a minute to breathe.

"the gays" as if it's not stock standard for Hell denizens to be gay. Stolas and Blitz, Asmodeus and Fizzarolli, Charlie and Vaggie, Angel Dust and every partner he's had (probably half of hell's sinner population), Vox and Valentino, virtually every Imp at Beelzebub's party, etc. Being straight is something of an oddball. Millie and Moxxie, Moxxie's father and Moxxie's mother, and Millie's mother and father are the only examples that come to mind of straight demons. Everyone else either hasn't expressed any sexuality either way, is likely at least vaguely bisexual, or asexual. Other examples of "straight" couples we have are likely pairings for repreoduction alone (Stolas' dad and whoever Stolas' mom was, Stolas and his ex wife, Blitz's mom and dad - the dad didnt seem particularly loving to his son so he likely had him to be an extra performer at the circus - we don't know his mom's side yet) The show's extremely gay and wonderful. If it's not a coincidence, then all it is is paying homage to the fact that gay relationsips are not some romanticised perfect thing all the time, which is also needed recognition. Too often do people romanticize it in the way of "Oh you're gay? I have another gay friend you two would be perfect for each other" like nope that's not how it works.

You know, I just realized something. A big reason Stolas probably felt so hurt by Blitzo's angry rant was because of his experience with other royals in his class. He knows horrible Goetias like Stella and Andrealphus, as well as probably many others. He's seen their classism first hand, and how disgusted they are by imps. With this, he probably strives to never be like them. And, for Blitzo to put him on the same level as the worst royals he knows himself, despite him trying his best, would break him. Stolas may struggle to get rid of the clear power imbalance or even notice it, but he still sees Blitzo on the same level as himself, unlike the other Goetias he knows. When he says, "I never knew you thought so low of me," he really means "I never knew you thought of me as low as them." Them being people like Stella.

@ashes36226 ай бұрын
Remember that Blitzø hasn’t seen any of the changes Stolas has been going through that the audience knows about. He also has no agency at all yet again here. This deal was started, maintained, and ended on Stolas’ terms. Blitzø thinks he’s a sex toy, shows up to reestablish his role so he can keep providing for his friends and family AND keep Stolas, and then there’s a sudden confession? His mind won’t let him accept that because that’s not his reality. He is there to be used. He can’t comprehend what Stolas is saying. But you see he wants it. His eyes were big and shining during Stolas’ confession because he wanted it to be real, but then you literally watch the light leave his eyes as reality sets in. It’s not possible that this ethereal prince would want a little screw-up imp like him. So he must be roleplaying. Blitzø isn’t turning it into a joke on purpose. He just genuinely believes Stolas is messing around. And he’s so desperate to keep Stolas, even with the crystal, that he crosses the one boundary he set two months ago. He told Stolas to not behave romantically when it was just sex because it was hurting and confusing him after Ozzie’s. It’s the one hard no he puts in place because he thought that night at Ozzie’s was roleplay and it hurt him. And here he throws himself into the romance roleplay to try to keep Stolas close. And then Stolas accidentally triggers Blitzø by dismissing him. Which then has Blitzø acting out in anger and letting out some actual feelings through it. He is hurt by being treated like a servant. He does think Stolas looks down on and uses him, but Blitzø also is caught in thinking that he, a lowly imp, couldn’t ever emotionally harm someone like Stolas. The minute he realizes that he has, he reaches out and starts apologizing. But Blitzø’s own trauma response triggered Stolas in return. He just got out of an abusive relationship and this is probably the first time he’s being yelled at since Stella was kicked out. You literally see him flinch when Blitzø yells “bitch”, which might also be because it seems that term was a normal way of him being addressed during their scenes. And this is probably the first time it’s being used against him in anger. So he sends Blitzø away thinking that Blitzø hates him and sees him as a monster. And neither of them know about each others trauma influencing their behaviors. So Blitzø is left completely baffled and Stolas is left completely rejected. BUT now Blitzø can sit and think about Stolas and his feelings and Stolas, who is not great at processing in the moment but is great at reflecting, can remember and think about the implications of Blitzø’s words. Because Stolas was viewing this deal as the only thing keeping them from being together, but Blitzø is very aware of the societal barriers. There’s a huge power imbalance they need to address even without the deal and Stolas seems at least partially ignorant to how severely it weighs on Blitzø and how it affects his perceptions and reactions. I have theories about next episode because of this ❤

29:20 not even just that, in his eyes it's also removing his reason to see Stolas (and he does care, bc if it was just about IMP he'd be happy about the crystal). if there's no obligation...... its scary. all the people he's bonded with are tied to him in some way. M&M are his employees, Loona is his daughter.... and Stolas is the guy he "has to" spend a night with for the book. without that deal, Stolas can leave (hurt) him whenever he wants. But even then remember in Ozzies when Stolas tried opening up and Blitz said his perspective was that the only thing Stolas would want was for Blitz to fuck him, nothing more. Either way both are broken, both are wrong, yet both are also justified in their actions, both suffer heavy trauma dictating their decissions that we as the viewers know from both sides but which the characters don't, all this despite how much they yearn for one another. And honestly this makes Vasagos introduction whenever he appears really interesting. According to the same demonology that Stolas is from, Vasago is able to see both the past and future. His ability to see the past, for Stolas but also for Blitz, could be the one thing to help bridge the gap for the 2, and truly allow them to understand eachothers perspectives, through and through! Whether thats how Vasago gets used or not is something I dont know, but Im not ruling it out.

@@ruiribeiro8010 Stolas has never made it clear that he wanted anyting else. He also hasn't indicated taking any risks. Blitz rightfully does not believe it's a big thing - not even Stolas' wife saw it as a big thing. The only issue with Stolas fucking Blitz was that in the hierarchy it's the equivalent of Stolas having sex with a piece of furniture - which is shameful sure, but no risk in breaking the family or losing his job. If Asmodeus, one of the deadly sins, could have it known he was having sex with Fizz even before they revealed being together for real, Stolas risked nothing by fucking an imp. Stolas has also at every occasion apart from the date, acted like it's always about the sex. And his words after the date, when he could talk to Blitz alone, were not clearly indicative of a change - it's fairly common on dates to end with "Do you wanna come inside and chat for a bit" which is code for "you wanna fuck?". Stolas could have made it clearer by saying something along the lines of "I can see this night was rough for you. Do you want to talk about it?" which wouldn't have implied sex. Not to say it's all Stolas' fault, just that you're placing too much of the blame on Blitz. It's about 50-50.

The idea that some like "demon prince" Stolas could have actual feelings for him could never cross his mind in his mental state. Stolas might not have done anything wrong here but he didn't do anything right either. He pulled the rug out from under Blitzø by starting the conversation with permanently taking the one thing from him that holds his constantly crumbling world together. Followed by dropping mother of all revelations on him that he has feelings for him and then when Blitzø trys to deflect within seconds decides for himself how Blitzø feels about him without giving him any time to reflect on what happened. No sh*t Blitzø's first reaction is anger and feels like his feelings are played with. Stolas in the back of his mind had already decided how this was going to go and at the first sight of it turning ugly tried to close himself off running away and pushing Blitzø away to protect himself from the "bad ending" he constantly feared. It's actually Stolas' main problem, he doesn't listen. He says what he wants but doesn't really listen to others. This has been the cause of both of episodes with Octavia as well. It probably comes from his royal upbringing. He decrees, people listen. He never thinks to ask how they feel or what they think.

@aaazzz83246 ай бұрын
Right. Both of them ignore so much about the other and it’s messing with their communication (which is already kinda bad to begin with). Seeing how surprised he was when Oz told him Fizz hates Blitz, he probably knows nothing about what happened at the circus, that Blitz hates himself because he’s responsible for an accident that fucked everyone and everything he had at that time and killed his mom. I wonder if Stolas is aware that Paimon bought blitz for his birthday, and that Blitz’s own dad dislike him son so much that he was okay to sell it and put him in a dangerous position. And it doesn’t seem like Blitz knows much about Stolas’ trauma as well. He only see him as a “pompous rich asshole” without knowing how hard that life as a prince was for him since he’s a kid. I’m not even ure he knows Stolas is going through a divorce right now (unless there’s an episode he mentioned it and i missed it).

@calhou916 ай бұрын
Both of their insecurities got in the way of them properly communicating. Blitz because he hates himself for his mother’s death, can’t fathom the idea that anyone could genuinely love him, an Stolas listening to that voice in his head “telling me I’m not enough”. Just like for you the most heartbreaking part was when Stolas ‘slammed the door’ just when Blitz was about to apologize, which could have lead to a better conversation and time to process. Hope they can figure it out. 💔
@aaazzz83246 ай бұрын
Yes, and since they’re both unaware of the other’s trauma, it’s even worse, because they dont understand the other’s reactions. If they knew more about each other, it would be easier to understand what the other is going through and how if affect their behaviour and how they feel, and it would be easier to communicate in ways that work better for both of them.
@FrostyFyre6 ай бұрын
Stolas thought Blitz thought low of him when it’s the exact opposite! Blitz hates himself and couldn’t imagine anyone, let alone a royal big shot like Stolas having genuine feelings for him. Stolas “setting him free” just feeds into his abandonment trauma, it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy: Blitz expects people to leave him so he detaches and doesn’t admit his true feelings to them which in turn causes them to eventually leave because they get the wrong perception of him not having feelings for them 😭

Honestly I don't blame Blitz for getting upset at Stolas. In his mind everything was normal. He thought it was just a role play because that's what they did. He wasn't prepared for it to be serious. So Stolas immediately breaking off the relationship because Blitz didn't realize was a huge shock. He thinks everything is normal, so he treats it like it's normal and suddenly Stolas wants to break up. All Stolas had to say was, "I mean it Blitz". Or "I'm serious". You know? Make sure that everyone is on the same page before deciding that it's time to end things.
@Humblemud6 ай бұрын
I think he broke things off, because anything Blitz would have said afterwards would have felt dishonest to him. He saw Blitz' reaction and was confirmed in the very belief he had been pondering for weeks now. "I am a monster. I'm hurting him. I need to let him go." So after that reaction, he realised that "yes, I need to let him go. This is what this truly is. I'm forcing him to be with me." And then Blitz told him how awful he thought of him and daaaaamnnn Confirmation after confirmation. He's a monster. He hoped Blitz wouldn't agree. But Blitz 'agreed'. He's a monster. He was right.
@joaogouveia22246 ай бұрын
I actually think this was necessary. Stolas needed to hear this in order for me to be on board with his change. He realized some wrongdoings, but he never apologized for treating Blitz like a toy and belittling him because he never even realized he constantly did it. He treated Blitz like a lower class, he made their relationship about sex, and although he's changing, he did need to realize the rift in their relationship is more than the feelings being mutual. Everything being about sex and Blitz seeing him as a royal and not a person are all stuff Stolas brought upon himself. It could never work without him realizing it.

That ending is so devastating. I think because Blitz is so use to the abuse and trauma he's experienced since childhood, he can't even fathom the idea that any living being would genuinely love and care about him, so once again, he engages in self-sabotage. I really hope that scene from the trailer of Blitz in the theater of memories helps him gain perspective. He needs serious therapy and an intervention from the few people he has left. Also, am I the only 1 who feels bad for the blue sheep cherub? He seems so sweet and just genuinely wants to back to heaven and without any violence.

Then to, while not being punished, still thinking that Stolas is giving up on him. Then finally to realizing that Stolas was being honest with him after he already hurt Stolas' feelings. I am not surprised that reacted in the ways that he did.

Someone pointed this out on twitter. But notice when Blitzø was screaming at Stolas, Stolas was flinching and hugging himself tighter every time. They pointed out that its likely Stolas was having flashbacks to when Stella would scream at him. Blitzø is literally triggering Stolas's PTSD from his abuse from her, and thats why Stolas kept trying to get away from him.

In Blitz's defense, Stolas really doesn't understand how Blitz feels. The entire ending paints Blitz as a bed person, even though Stolas literally confirmed he has no idea how Blitz was feeling during their "deal" period, and now we see Blitz letting out his anger because this whole time he DID believe Stolas only wanted him for s3x. And I can't blame him. Almost every personal moment from Stolas that we see, where Stolas shows desire for Blitz beyond just bedding him, it's when Blitz ISN'T around. Blitz couldn't possibly know the full extent of Stolas' emotions, so this situation is very sudden for him. It also doesn't help that Loona put the thoughts into his head earlier on that Stolas is "bored" of him now. Blitz as an imp truly feels stepped on because he was ready to put in so much effort for Stolas to keep his business, and now Stolas rejects his efforts and starts talking to him about letting him go and what-not. Obviously Stolas still said he wants Blitz to stay, but vulnerability and affection is NOT easy for Blitz to express or experience. If Blitz has gone all this time not believing Stolas loves him, then it's sensible to say Blitz doesn't love Stolas as much Stolas loves him. In other words, he can't just run into Stolas' arms and be all happy and accepting with the idea that Stolas is only NOW confessing his feelings, when this entire time Blitz has viewed Stolas as anything but a lover. Because Blitz up to this point had nothing to grasp onto as love outside of s3x. Stolas saying "I didn't realize you think so low of me" is a gut punch, but it puts into light the fact Stolas DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT BLITZ FEELS. The whole ending is all about Stolas gushing his heart out and making us sympathize with him, but when Blitz tries to grasp the situation and feel rightfully upset and confused, Stolas gets offended and sends him out. He should've actually taken time to hear Blitz out instead of pushing him to the side the moment Blitz started getting upset.
@aaazzz83246 ай бұрын
You’re absolutely right when you say that that last line pout light to the fact that Stolas dont know about anything Blitz is feelings, because from the viewer pov, its not a surprise to hear Blitz call him “rich pompous asshole”, because that is how he talks about Stolas and how he views him “or at least thats what he tells himself, even if it clear he cares for Stolas despite the fact that he is a prince). And even if I dont blame Stolas for portaging Blitz out just as he was about to apologise and maybe start a real conversation (he was hurt and vulnerable and maybe his past trauma with Stella’s abuse make him more vulnerable to people screaming at him and all that), if he had tried to listen to Blitz more, the night could have ended better.
@dfpl25546 ай бұрын
The entire ending doesn't paint Blitz as the only one at fault. It was clearly both of them. Stolas was the first one to make all their interactions about sex. Even though he has made signs that he's interested in Blitz beyond their BDSM relationship, Blitz is too insecure and emotionally constipated to interpret them as such. Stolas complaining about how Blitz tried to direct their conversation into having sex seemed completely unfair to Blitz. On the other hand, Blitz's insecurities of their class differences made him lash out the worst possible things he could've said at Stolas. From the moment they met, Stolas (for the most part) treated him with respect. He bows to Blitz even though he was taught otherwise by his dad (both in the past and present), he told him he would be a great boss, and he never once belittled him for being an imp. Blitz's rant must have been a shock to Stolas and confirmed his biggest fear which was mentioned in When I See Him, that Blitz sees him as a monster. Obviously Blitz just said it in the heat of the moment, but having that fear confirmed probably emotionally broke down Stolas, leading him to not hearing what sounded like Blitz about to apologize. This may sound like an excuse but it's true that when people breakdown they may not be able to perceive their surroundings. Neither one of them were more justified to act the way they did than the other. They both fucked up, but at least this exchange allows them a healthy separation where they can individually use to self-reflect.
@sardonicus17396 ай бұрын
I remember some youtuber made a good point about how the way Stolas approached this whole thing basically self sabotaged himself as the way he started the whole conversation immediately puts Blitz on the defensive worried about his livelihood, which is a bad frame of mind to be in when it comes to being able to think rationally. Stolas also did the opposite thing that he claimed he wanted in that he said he was going to let Blitz choose, but did everything in his power however unintentionally to prevent Blitz from verbalizing an actual choice, instead shutting down then second his feelings were hurt, and making the choice for him in that moment, projecting that it was Blitz's choice, which would be the kind of thing to anger someone like Blitz as it's very dismissive of him in a way that shows that Stolas doesn't actually know Blitz very well. Stolas also throughout the show has behaved in a manner very blind to his privileged, never acknowledging the class disparity that allowed this arrangement to be possible. I'm not saying he's malicious but pretty ignorant to the way that Imps as a species are treated as less than him. That he himself has a whole group of Imp servants that we've even seen him to treat poorly for example when he squeezed one in anger who was holding the phone he was using to talk to his wife after the divorce, using him like a stress toy, not acknowledging that specific imps humanity at all. Or even in this very episode where as a gag he crawls into the fridge. Next to him is an imp servant looking rather annoyed because he's going to have to clean up the mess that Stolas is making. Even when he realizes it's wrong for him to make this arrangement it never comes across in a way that's reflective of the genuine class struggles going on in hell that allows him to use his power in such a way in the first place. He never really reflects on how the people seen as lower in the class system of hell actually feel about their lesser status that might make him recognize the sort of deep ingrained societal treatment that would lead Blitz to feel so poorly of himself that he couldn't even imagine someone like Stolas genuinely caring about him. Not saying Blitz didn't mess up too, but that this is a pretty massive whiff on both their ends.
@meguscarlet33716 ай бұрын
Blitzø speach is not wrong, he was there ready to please and he's always been ready to make Stolas happy so he can borrow the book... and Stolas aways asked for sex out of him. And to be fair, Stolas doesn't communicate well, his text messages keep contradicting his intentions of Blitzø visiting him or not, and he even started this conversation killing the happy mood Blitzø had and asking for the book back with no context making him panic and beg. Plus we've seen during the whole series Stolas being condescending and diminishing imps, manhandling his buttler, and dismissing Blitzø when he tried to ser boundaries at Loo Loo Land and in bed during the invitation to Wrath (nobody remembers how Stolas out out a cigarette on him? Rude man, and baby talked him too). So Blitzø has a point, I love Stolas and he tries so hard he's doing the right thing and his speech was good, but a fifteen minute talk will not fix everything he's been doing to Blitzø and him running away from the real talk is utterly sad. I get he's hurt but Blitzø was opening to finally say what's on his mind when he cut the conversation. The bad thing is Blitzø really need to chill for that talk, he hurt him bad screaming and throwing hands out.

I'm extremely impressed with how this miscommunication/misunderstanding has been handled. I usually can't stand the misunderstanding/miscommunication trope because it can always be solved with a conversation, but...what _Helluva Boss_ showed is single-handedly the most realistic, true-to-life, and genuinely damaging-to-a-relationship misunderstanding I've seen in a very long time. Stolas had no idea he was cast as the perverted depraved villain in Blitz's head, and Blitz had no idea he was cast as the dreamy bad boy love interest in Stolas's head. Detailed analysis below: When I first watched the Blitz yelling and Stolas crying "I think so highly of you. I didn't know you thought so low of me" scene, I was a little surprised to see Stolas's reaction, but I think I finally understand. Stolas and Blitz both have had very different ideas of who the other person is this whole time. We've seen in-text depictions of how each person perceives how the other person feels. For Blitz, we can see that he sees Stolas as this powerful, god-like royal being who treats him like a pet or a toy (as shown in Blitz's drug trip from "Truth Seekers"), and Stolas sees Blitz as a wounded lone wolf or lone moon drifting in space when not tethered to the Earth (Stolas) as seen in "Look My Way". Blitz and Stolas were tailoring their communications based on their flawed perceptions of the other person. Stolas was gentle and very clear and vulnerable because he thought he was in a BL slice of life drama, and Blitz shouted and yelled at the godlike royal who dared to see him as a toy because Blitz thought he was in a shonen with an overall theme of classism. It didn't click that they were fundamentally misunderstanding each other until Stolas said, "I think so highly of you. I didn't know you thought so low of me." When they're finally on a similar page, Blitz _wants_ to apologize--he was about to until he was transported outside ("Stolas, I'm s--"). I can't imagine how hurt Stolas feels thinking back to all of the times he was so vulnerable with Blitz only to realize that Blitz saw it all as a king commanding a servant to service him. I also can't imagine how blindsided Blitz feels upon realizing that Stolas genuinely loves him and having the rug ripped out beneath him because Blitz didn't react in the correct way or because Blitz just acted according to how he understood their reality. It finally clicked for me with this crashing of genres in these characters' heads (the BL drama and the shonen classism). Stolas had no idea he was cast as the depraved villain in Blitz's head, and Blitz had no idea he was cast as the dreamy bad boy love interest in Stolas's head. I'm struck with the narrative juxtaposition all over again. I can't help but love it. It's also been a delight to see how each reactor I watch picks up on a different story-telling technique (with the draping of curtains over Stolas's paintings blocking everything except for Octavia as a parallel to Blitz scribbling his face out of all the pictures of him he has with other people he cares about, for instance). This episode is rapidly becoming my favorite _Helluva Boss_ episode purely based on the creativity of the narrative techniques alone.

Blitz definitely didn't handle this the right way but I feel like that's to be expected for him. Also stolas (and us for that matter) knew this talk was coming. Stolas (and us) thought over every outcome, considered the conversation and what might be said. Stolas (and us) had time to dwell on all of it. Blitz on the other hand was completely blindsided by it and with his inferiority complex, that's just a recipe for disaster. He never thought stolas could actually love him so he played it off as a joke. Once he realized it wasn't he didn't know what to think, and stolas didn't really give him the chance to stop and think about it because he was already telling him goodbye. I'm sure stolas telling him goodbye so easily after saying all that only solidified how easy it is for royals to walk away from people like him. Then stolas says he thinks highly of blitz and is hurt about how he thinks of him and that's when blitz remembers that Stolas can be hurt and he tries to apologize and talk it out.
