Man, I hear ya on the "simple fix" part. My neighbor's husband passed away last year and she's moving out of her house to an apartment, but she can't take all the tools with her. Her husband had two of the GTI 19 models (the larger version of this) and both of them had such brittle fuel lines, it was like slightly under cooked pasta. I had to replace all the fuel lines and filters, air filters, and the primer bulbs. The first one started right up, but the second one... what a chore. Aside from all the other things I had replaced on the first one, this one had a stripped screw hole that keeps the carb tight and I only took the carb off because the butterfly valve was getting stuck open. I popped the top of the carb off, pulled the whole thing apart and found that the shaft the butterfly valve screws into was somehow bent. I took a zip tie and folded it in half, then shoved it down into the stripped hole. It's not super tight, but it'll hold long enough for me to test it out. I'm still in the middle of working on putting it all back together, but what was supposed to be a quick job turned into a whole other ordeal...

so no primer bulb? why dont it have a primer bulb?

Primer bulbs are optional, not every engine need one.

The early Weedeaters used a choke, not a primer ball. I would like to know the size of fuel line though.

i think its 2.5mm x 5mm (3/32 x 3/16). I found a fuel line kit on amazon for 5 dollars. I am replacing the fuel line right now.

I was wrong. The fuel line is 2mm x 3.5mm (.08x .14). It is a tight fit but it does go on the carb and in the fuel tank. I used long nose needle pliers to pull the fuel line thru like shown in the video.

Excellent job! These GTI15Ts were still good weedeaters for sure. Excellent job on that. I have worked at the small engine repair and outdoor power equipment where all the new equipment ends up in landfills in no time. This is one good reason to not use ethanol gas in these weedeaters since it can ruin the fuel lines and the engine parts. I would use 40:1 premix fuel (non ethanol) in these good old 30 year old machines. As long as you don’t use ethanol gas in these engines, they will last you a very long time.

@@tthetopofmygame After the TYPE 1 model Poulan went to a primer instead of a choke. If you keep the choke lever in tack then it is possible to plug the fuel return port . Good luck !
