That is because, if you consider the company as an individual entity, it will mean that the owners and other people that have invested in you will have to be paid back for their investment

Because it is a part of profit which is not paid to shareholders and thus it is called retained earnings. And retained earnings is one type of reinvestment by shareholders of their earnings into business. Thus it creates an obligation towards the Shareholders and every obligation has to be written on liability side.

because company has right on that money..since this money is in reserve category..

Because they are still the money of this business. Also If the other company incur loss then our company will get affected as well depending on the % of share.
