Week 1 post op Gastric Bypass!

I am so excited to be done with week 1 and to be seeing progress already! Please let me know if you have any fav recipes for ‘soft’ foods!

Walmart has chocolate premier in 4 packs. I found out by accident that straws were fine. Was at McAlister's with a friend, about 3 weeks out. Had soup. Had been finished eating for some time and so I got water to drink. I just, out of habit, stuck a straw in the cup and sipped and then I was like, oh no and then realized I was fine. Been drinking from a straw ever since.

This EXACT same thing happened to me after I ate tomato soup on day 5. It took HOURS before the insane discomfort went away. I couldn’t even swallow my spit!!

I had my bypass surgery on 1/19/21 and I feel ya on the burps lol and the pain on the left is no joke. They gsve me deloted to help me with the pain and I try not to take it but gotta take it at night. Things definitely get better with time.

I am about to have gastric bypass surgery and I just took the preop class. They told us we are not allowed to have tomato soup for a while after surgery due to the acids and stuff in the soup (Even though it is a “mushy” food). Also, they probably gave you Dilaudid. If so the “reaction” you had to the medication is normal. It makes you super warm, makes you feel flushed and sometimes makes it feel like you have trouble breathing or chest pain and they it dies down and goes away. It’s completely normal and nothing to worry about 😊

I am still pre-op, but was told only 2 sugar-free jello in a day, no pudding, and no tomato soup. Also, My daughter tried almond milk for the first time and had a reaction of explosive diarrhea I guess some don't tolerate it well and it probably was the almond milk along with those other things combined that made you have that. Hopefully, I won't go through dumping It'll probably kill me.

If there is a dollar tree near you they sell single premier protein depending on your area.

Hi 👋 I’m diabetic & I tried sugar free jello pudding & my sugar went through the roof. It has sugar alcohol in it so b careful. Now I make it from the pack at home & I’m fine. Just something to think about

Brian R I didn’t! I think it was more so that I ate it too quickly! I’ve had the sugar free pudding since and was fine! You are welcome😊

I had to tell them not to give me Dilaudid. I could barely walk in that medication.

Wow! that was a sucky experience. I had something similar experience happen but I was more than a year out from surgery. They think it was the beginning of an ulcer. You may be lactose intolerant???

Bypass to a Leaner Lynn I think I just couldn’t tolerate it because I’ve had premier protein almost every day and was just fine, also yogurt has been ok. I will just stay away from it🤣

My goodness baby. I was flipping through the tube and had to stop when I saw you. Even at 218lbs !! You're an eye catcher and You look like a fresh breeze. Congrats on your WLS. Hope your husband realizes what he's got. Remember the song "love you just the way you are"
