Bike fit at your local shop. Having a bike properly adjusted makes a world of difference. Also, you are going to hate those kinds of seats if you’re sitting on them for very long. A bike fit will help you find the proper seat. I’m doing RAGBRAI for the first time this year, but I have done a few centuries and know that the seat can be a major pain point.

Awesome! We did RAGBRAI in 2022 and 2023 and it was a blast. Well, 2023 was rough, but still fun. Good luck with all your training. Hoping to be back to RAGBRAI this year, but not sure on our work schedule. Maybe we will see you out there.

My advice, invest in some bike helmets and camelback for each, also take some salt and sugar with you, drinking too much water whilst sweating in the heat you'll lose electrolytes. I would also see if you could get a small saddle bag fitted under the seat carrying puncher kits, and fit some brackets onto the frame holding water bottles any good cycle shop will have these, and wear something around the back of your neck this is where your most likely to get sunstroke

These are EXCELLENT tips. I’ve just heard about salt water to help with heat - will try that while we train!

@@Off.Day.Adventures the lactic acid in the muscles need to recover which is probably where you went wrong last year, caught out by our summer weather, magnesium flakes and Epsom salt baths are good for muscle recovery, or even soaking your feet in this will help

@@Off.Day.Adventures just watched the video with Mark, as I said to him, suggest Foxes Afloat for advice on Narrowboating, they designed their own and spent a couple of years on the waterways, now living in a Croft in Scotland

Those MB tyres have much more rolling resistance so you need to work harder. Make it easier on yourself & get some better suited wheels & tyres. Or if you're going to be renting a bike on the run make sure to get a touring style bike as it'll have much better tyres for the road. I have a tourer & it has racer wheels/tyres on it as i have no intention of going offroad on it.

oh - and get some helmets please 👍

We will be renting bikes - but will probably have to make do with these for practice. Oh yes, will definitely get some helmets!! Thank you for the tips!
