Clive Davis, famous for acts like Aretha and Whitney, hated this song because it didn’t rhyme and tried to get it off the Breakaway album. But when it gained success he tried to get credit by saying it was his idea to put it on the album

Kelly's dad left them when she was 6. Because he refused to give her mom any money, her brother had to go live with the dad, her sister lived with an aunt and Kelly was raised by her mother. The entire family was split up. After she won American Idol she tried to reconnect with him and he once and turned his back on her, telling her he had a new family now. Around 2016 he was dying and wanted to make anends. Kelly then turned her back on him.
