Theory time! Bf seems to either be dead and a ghost or is stuck somewhere in a parallel plane or alternate verse and is trying to reach out to Gf to help her and himself to bring himself back. Gf vs Matt weeks are Gf needing someone to lift her up from her poor spirits. The bed is either Bf's or Gf's or a friend. Either way, the bed seems to have a lot of monitors and systems so some is either hurt badly or trapped and being experimented on. That's the best I got.
