They say that the US military's superpower is logistics, but take it one step beyond and it's also a bureaucracy. Sure that gets a bad rap, but they at least get this "boring" needed stuff done. I think most functioning militaries have like 10-20 back end people for every one combatant. And to add on to the first point, there are a number of videos on why invading the US - short of using nukes - is impossible. But none that I've see have discussed how horrible the logistics would be for the world.

I so much want this series to continue post September 2nd. This content, giving us real-time information on the post-war order, is to me perhaps more interesting than the wartime itself. I still remember the day I accident stumbled into this series. I was laying on the bed late at night scrolling through KZbin on September 8, 2018 which was a Saturday and I was 16 years at the time. It was a week late as you had started the series on September 1 which was the first Saturday of the month. Since I followed your channel since the onset of the First World War, I immediately subscribed. I was a Junior in high school at the time and literally counted to 6 years and said “I’ll be out of college when this ends”. 6 years later, I’m a college graduate 22 years of age. A lot changed. Covid, had a sucky high school graduation, my father passing, and graduating from the university. Now my journey with the Korean War has started but it will never capture what this series means to me as this past 6 years of my life so much has changed… and the time ghost team has been present directly/ indirectly during those changes that have defined so far my life. Thanks for the focus on China and VN. What strikes me is that Westerners (like Mr. Birch) must have felt they were entitled to “call the shots” in the region. That lack of understanding was tragic. Basically, they seem to have been pushing around weight that they didn’t carry with any of the inhabitants of this part of Asia. West meets East is personified in the main players here. Ho had a western education, but only played the game. From the Eastern perspective, West and East don’t meet as equals or partners. They don’t have a “shared” cultural history. Thanks for all of this. I came in late and will enjoy the next four years (or less) of accumulated videos.

When the soviets captured Manchuria and the Japanese Kwantung Army tbere. They turn over all the captured Japanese equipment to Mao's guerilla forces. That included 1,000,000 rifles machine guns pistols. 4,000 field guns howitzers and mortar. 1000 tanks and armoured vehicles. Large quantities of shells and bullets to go with them. From then on Mao's guerilla army was no more a guerilla army and could fight Chiang forces in the open and win.

Chiang's forces were still better equipped, and received American aid, but the imbalance was not as great as before.

This may be an offshoot query but is the pipe at 2:20 Douglas MacArthur picture enlarged for comical purpose? Because it comes across that way. Cheers :)

Nope, that’s how his pipe actually looked.
