I can well imagine the porters were so grateful that you showed how vital they are but so underpayed. They are the most important people for the success of the hike to the summit but the most underpayed compared to how much each tourist pays. A video to make many of us grateful for what we have, thank you Eli. Gail, Czech Republic ❤️

Beautiful, to put these people in the spotlight. You pretty much already did in the 1st Kilimanjaro video. This one is all about them. It may look like a vacation in a 30 min. video, but it takes a week to go up there. They're taking care of you in such a sweet way. Beautiful. And here's a little something from me to them.

Thank you for making this video! I lived in Tanzania and was always amazed by the people's kindness. I was appalled when I heard my ex-pat friends not give good tips to their Safari drivers and guides. In fact, they live off tips, as their salaries are not much at all. We gave our driver over 100 dollars back in 2002. Others gave 10 dollars for 5 days of driving and taking care of them. Ugali is basically cornmeal porridge. My love of Tanzania and the Tanzanian people makes my heart ache to go back there and I hope one day I will be back in the country that gave me so much love. Truly a wonderful country and wonderful people.

What I will say is that you can't compare Western salaries with poorer countries. I was in Africa and in the beginning I was handing out tips all over. However after a while I saw that this was destabilizing and created a lot of jealousy in their communities. Ask any foreigner living there long-term. They are the best people to give advice. Tourists are definitely not

Great video! Lights went out on "its day", so I missed it, but I suspected it would be worth watching, so here I am, and yes it was. I think quite a lot of the climbing tourists quietly appreciate how awesome what the porters do is (especially those who've lugged their own 20kg somewhere else - and that would be a higher than average proportion) but I'm also sure that a lot of these will nevertheless love seeing the video record you made of _their_ climb, on the way up, too.
