give your kids dojo points on friday if they have a clean desk!! i do bucket fillers for my reward system and if their desk is clean friday, they have a pom pom on their desk monday morning and its a gamechanger!! these SIX year olds are keeping their desks clean!! also it is so inspiring to me how much better you are feeling and doing this year compared to last year, i always remember that on my hard days!

I'm also 22 and I just graduated from college in finance and econ, but my calling is teaching. Teaching is my passion, but I don't necessarily want to get another BA. Hearing you talk about your reading curriculum sounds exactly like you guys are using HMH. That’s the curriculum that our school has adopted for us (I teach do third grade as well)… i’ve been having issues with the kids not grasping the knowledge of the content i’m teaching because hmh feels like it’s jumping from topic to topic… how are you guys feeling about it??

The public and parents do not understand how tiring the teaching profession is. A teacher deals with the children, curriculum, preparations, parent concerns, classroom organization and cleanliness.I am a teacher for over 15 years so I know the fatigue you talk about.Plus a teacher needs to move furniture around to prepare for the new school year. What business starts at 7:20. Maybe medical professionals. Glad you take a nap; you are up very early.

Hi can you explain how secret student works

Every morning, I pick a student that I'm "watching" throughout the day I will make comments like "Wow our secret student is doing such an amazing job" or "I hope our secret student starts making better choices so we can reveal their identity later!!" and then at the end of the day, if they did good, I will reveal and they get a dojo point or lollipop or something, if they didn't do a good job I just tell the class that our secret student had a hard time following our expectations and they can try again another day! (without revealing who it was)

Not to be a downer but...my daughter was fully vaccinated and she still caught Covid. She is a pre-k teacher. I hope you didn´t get it. Just be aware of any new changes with how you feel. She said she felt completely drained a couple of days before the other symptoms set in. Which it´s hard for a teacher to know because aren´t we always drained! :)

Hi, I realize this was posted 2 months ago, and I absolutely love your videos, I just want to shed some light on something you mentioned. The mask is so as not to spread COVID to the kids, co-workers, in the room or hallways (depending on the ventilation), etc. You can be vaccinated and still carry COVID, you won’t get AS sick, which is what helps you and the health care system and other people who may need a hospital bed or other medical resources. I realize, being in Florida the atmosphere surrounding COVID and COVID education may be different than where I am, but wearing a mask is a small inconvenience for most able-bodied and neurotypical people. Your feelings about it being annoying and inconvenient and the information being contradictory are totally valid. Just providing some perspective. I’m a medical student and I’ve been wearing masks daily for the last year and a half, I barely even notice it now. ANYWAY, your videos are really great, thank you for the content :) and really happy to hear that you are vaccinated!

omg I refuse to clean their desks. I empty their entire desk on top of it and tell them to fix it. And their partner lets them know where everything needs to go. And I project a picture on the board so they can see what I expect. When it's messy like that they constantly lose pencils, markers, etc. And they can never find anything. And that annoys me so much even tho I know they are 8/9 and they need to learn that executive functioning skills. that's why i don't clean it for them, they need to learn how. And they need to know that the organization will make everything easier for them

For kids who struggle with organizing their desks, the lids from copier paper boxes fit perfectly inside the desks. It helps in two ways. The kids can take the whole thing out and see what they need and where they need to put things away. It also makes it easier do a complete overhaul of their desks. If you have enough for the whole class, this makes it easier when you need to change seating arrangements.
