It’s amazing how different I was for my second and third baby about labor and honestly most other things related to my kids. When I had my first I just sort of did what I was told because I thought they knew best. After my first I realized I KNOW best. I was much more stern with the second two about what I wanted.

Best of luck Sarah with the birth! In relation to tantrums etc. a book that really opened my eyes and helped was anything by Magda Gerber. My favorite was her “Dear Parent…” book. It’s an easy read and life changing!

Maybe TMI for comments but I used Evening Primrose oil inserted vaginally to natural encourage labor when I was overdue with my third. My first was induced and my second was a C-section. My body had never experienced natural water breaking and starting labor so my midwife recommended it. I had a natural birth and everything went smoothly. Wishing you the best and hope all goes well! I’m so happy to hear you are just letting your body do what it wants. The baby will come when it’s READY. I wanted all natural births and I went a week past my due date on both my pregnancy. The doctors constantly wanted to induce me. My second baby I was having little contractions for the last month just like I did with my first baby. I was dilated to 4cm and still walking around. The doctors pressured me to schedule to be induced because they said the baby is going to come really fast since my first birth was fast and aI was already dilating. Also 2nd baby is usually even faster. They were worried I wouldn’t get to the hospital in time. The night before induction I was up all night stressing over it because it was against my belief. Back years ago woman would deliver whenever the baby was ready with no intervention from doctors. I truly believe the body will deliver when it’s ready. It does more harm forcing the body when it’s not ready. So many inductions turn into cesareans because now the baby is under stress because it wasn’t ready. Well I called the hospital at 4:00am and said I wasn’t coming😳I ended up going a week past my due date. My water broke one night when I shifted my body from one side to the other. After it broke we quickly got in the car and got to the hospital. I got changed and hooked up. The nurse checked me and said I was at 5cm. She said it could be a little bit. Well literally 20min later my husband told the nurse I felt the urge to push so she checked me again and I was READY. Dr hadn’t even got to the hospital yet. They were calling him telling him to hurry. I was holding that baby in. He got in the room and two big pushes and 10pound baby boy was out! It was a total of 1 hour. It was the best delivery. Everything I imagined how I wanted it to go. Stick to your guns Sarah. Don’t stress your body or the baby. He will come when he’s ready. I know at the end your tired and want it over but for the baby let him come when he wants. LET HIM CHOOSE HIS SPECIAL DAY❤️

@@jordanb8377 you’re right they do, however I think at the newborn stage there are certain things only mothers are expected to do for baby. Such as breastfeeding while still recovering from labor and bleeding non stop. So I think to some extent the needs of a newborn are mostly reliant on the mother vs father. Hope that clarifies what i meant, no beef with dads that are invested in their babies!

I understand that you felt pressure from the hospital with your first pregnancy. I just wanted to let you know as a doctor that we make the safest decisions for our patients. I don't know with what tone your doctor talked to you or how he treated you but trust me we are trained to make the best decisions. Everyday women get induced for similar reasons and I completely understand that you wanted to have a 'all natural' birth but forcing your body to go in labour is not the right choice. I'm happy that everything turned out to be great. I'm wishing you a safe delivery (on march 10th ;))

@@CRG_ I understand your point but there is a difference between inducing to overcome tricky situation and forcing yourself to give birth just because you follow a all natural lifestyle. As I said, foxy is healthy and everything went well so there is no punt to argue. I just wanted to point out that Sarah could be little less negative about her first experience with the hospital l since, I’m sure, they were making the safest option after analysing her results.

I second this thoughtful comment, I feel like there is a narrative here around inductions = bad. It’s so different country to country but without my induction at 38 weeks, I for would not be here today. I had an amazing induction experience and I was terrified to give birth. I wish the narrative around inductions wasn’t so doom and gloom 🙁

The problem is that most docs force women to be induced without a valid reason for it... I was to be induced and thank God they didn't do it early and my waters broke on the day of the supposed induction. My friend's doctor induced her before she even reached her due date(absolutely no reason) and ultimately had a c section because baby just wasn't ready to be born naturally... Readiness can come from day to day...

My doctor was the same way with my first and it was stressful. I hired a doula this time to help me make informative decisions but not at the snap of a finger. Just more thought out and calmly. Doctors are intense when giving information and asking you for a decision. Also, in America, I think it’s common for women to wait until birth to go on maternity leave.
