ive been worrying that i wont be able to maintain a social life if i study architecture, altho i rlly want to study it. but you make it look so enjoyable and you still get to have fun with friends, this is giving me all the more reason to wanna apply forit.

aww I'm so glad! I've made some of my closest friends through architecture and I think it's definitely possible to still have a social life with it. I hope you go for it if it's what you want :)

This was really interesting, I am an arch student at UIC. Your debate question about the Elgin marbles was really interesting, I was wondering what did you decide on? Or the class as a whole Keep up the great work!

hi, thank you so much for watching!! Essentially, the arguments for either side were as follows: Return to Greece: - The marbles are part of Greek culture, they contribute to nationalism and pride - Britain has profited off the marbles extensively, and Greece has gotten nothing in return - Britain damaged the pieces in cleaning - The pieces aren't unified if half are in Greece and the other half are in Britain - why are we purposefully keeping apart art that should belong together? - Museums are inherently rooted in a colonial mindset - we should re-evaluate why we enjoy museums in the first place and who is "entitled" to view certain pieces on art Remain in Britain: - There is more foot traffic to Britain, enabling greater access and education (and would become relatively less accessible if returned to Greece) - It is helpful to compare arts across different cultures and times in a single place to draw cross-cultural connections - Returning the marbles to Greece could set a "dangerous" precedent - repatriation may be required for other countries too! --> there is an argument common in this kind of debate that the home country does not have the facilities to care for their antiques [in this particular case though, Greece does have The Acropolis Museum to house the marbles so the argument falls short] - Further damage could happen in the transport to Greece - Not everyone has the opportunity to go to many countries to see art, so museums allow further education and deeper scholarship/research opportunities TLDR: Our class concluded that the situation is complicated; there are merits to the modern museum but we leaned closer to the opinion that they should be returned to Greece! Especially since they now have The Acropolis Museum just under the Parthenon to host the marbles. I hope this was helpful!!

hi, thank you so much for watching and good luck with applications next year! In high school, I was mainly involved with orchestra, french honors society, the Asian club on campus, and my church community. I think overall it's important to be involved in activities you're passionate about and let your personality shine through in your essays :) Good luck with everything!!!

hi!! the yale architecture school does have funds for each student depending on their class - for the Junior Studio I'm taking right now, we are given 200 dollars each for materials/printing. It isn't a lot considering the cost of supplies and I definitely understand your concern. People are very creative and scrappy though, and you can often find perfectly good material in the recycling bin and make beautiful projects with what you currently have!
