The darker yellows are good because when your son gets older you won't need to repaint. You can always use lighter shades of yellow in the room with bedding, window treatments, furniture, etc. God bless you, Allison. Hi Allison! Absolutely loved your summer kick off video. Just a tip regarding the yellow paint (because I painted my room yellow before) go as light as possible, because too saturated of a yellow will reflect off of the walls and cause anyone in the room to look yellow/sickly.

Lovely vlog again. Definitely relax this summer.. after the baby is there you will be tired, exhaused and not have time to yourself for a while.. so if being at the beach "fills your cup," go there as much as you can... that can be a good place to go with the baby to. My kids were out travelling from birth and loved dreamy days at the beach..probably because that is my "happy place" and I immediately relax when there..and babies "sense" your emotions! My kids had white walls, like the whole house (I love Scandinavian style). This has never needed repainting..then I use BIG pictures and framed prints and soft furnishings to add colour. These are constantly changing as my boys grow.. eg Winnie the Poo (which was yellow colors for my oldest son as a baby-toddler) and Wickie the Wiking (which was blue colors for my second son as a baby- toddler). They both moved on to the movie Cars (red), then my oldest went on to Star Wars (black) and my youngest is into Minecraft (green). At 14 my oldest went white/grey/green and "adult" style (no "motto"). Can't wait to see what style my yongest son develops after Minecraft is "out." (I am secretly sad the "motto" style will soon come to an end. Then "childhood" is over).

Painting Color Aide: I am a 38-year art teacher. Take the color that you like and try it with a quart or 25% (or two quarts, 50%, or 3 quarts, 75%) of pigment to one gallon of base at the store, when they make and mix it for you. I typically find that the small color sample, that I choose, seems much darker on the much larger wall. And, the tint down I like much better.

I used white and yellow gingham for my sons' crib skirt and curtains with white walls and used blues and greens- as I crossed stitched so may little animals and clowns. Oh those were such sweet days! My sons are 43 and 39 now and we are still very close. You are going to "rock" as a boy mom!!

Is that hibiscus Pink Ballerina? Babies see yellow first and need that for their development. When I was little, our parents took us to Sarasota and we played shuffleboard on the beach one night about 1 a.m. while a plumber fixed something at the house. I will never forget the breeze off the Gulf or the smell. I wanted to live my life there but my mom took us out west after my dad died. You are so lucky to live there.

Such a sweet video! My only decorative advice is to have your furniture, rug, curtains, and lamps in place before you sample paint. It’s much harder to decorate around a paint color vs. having your items in the room first. Enjoy the process!

What a beautiful weekend! I also chose yellow for a nursery and went through so many trials until I found the one that was perfect. I kept telling my husband it was too pale but then when it was on all the walls it turned out to be the perfect soft yellow. It's Benjamine Moore Windham Cream from their Historical Colors collection. I'm sure what ever you choose will be fantastic like the rest of your beautiful decorating jobs.

Beautiful & fun video as always. When I was young my dad agreed to paint my room yellow as I hoped for. Very important to keep in my mind that the yellow walls will reflect off of each other which I did not consider. Although I kept it for quite a while it would have been more to my liking if it was a softer yellow. I am curious what you will think of the banana cream shade. Also important to look at the different shades at various times of the day as the lighting will also impact how intense it looks. If you want a relaxing vibe, I’m imagining that the softer yellow may be more what you envision. Whatever you chose, I am confident that it will be dreamy as is everything you do, Allison.🐻💛

Love the colors! A little tip, you can take the darker yellow that you like to the paint shop and ask them to make it at 50%. It will be the same color family just lighter. I hope that makes sense lol. 💛

At Home Depot, when they are mixing a paint for you and you think the color is too dark but you like it overall, you can ask them to make it lighter in percentages, for example 20% lighter. They'll keep that in their computer for you. I did that with my laundry room color. Can't wait to see the finished nursery, it's going to be so precious!

We like light walls, and we went with the banana cream. It ended up turning out looking like way too much color for US. What we would do in the future is choose a white that has a little bit of a yellow tint to it. We like the banana cream. It’s nice and light and distinctly yellow. We didn’t change it because I still liked it. If I were you I would do the banana cream if you are wanting yellow. The other colors seem kind of loud, but everyone is different and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

You do exactly how you’re supposed to do samples! Lol my struggle is I have to use the entire paint sample and make as big of a piece as possible because it’s hard for me to imagine with a tiny little square😂 I almost painted our entire kitchen one time with a paint sample in my husband came in questioning my sanity. But I told him I couldn’t tell if I liked it or not without doing that. 🤣

With yellow walls it really depends on how much sun the room gets. Both my living room and bedroom are yellow and the bedroom gets sun in a way it makes the color several tones darker than just the paint test looked😅It doesnt bother me enough to redo it but just a heads up.

Be careful with yellows. It is beautiful but I never slept worse than when I painted my bedroom yellow. It’s such an energizing color. I didn’t sleep fully through the night until I repainted.
