Thanks! 😊 The APC40 MK2 is so good with Ableton Live. When I ordered it I was a bit concerned about getting a midi controller that is that old in years and might be outdated, but that thing is a beast!

@@RandomNoiseMusic I've had so many synths, grooveboxes and controllers but never the APC40. I just didn't get around to hooking up with one and now I've just ordered an Arturia Minilab 2 (orange edition 👌) to noodle some clip content with I think it's time to get the APC40 mk2 to be able to do some creative work with all of the content I'm making. Mousing about can be a buzz kill and even if they bring a mk3 out soon there's so much that can be done with the 2 already to satisfy my needs. All I needed was the inspiration and your video gave me that. Worthy of a sub if ever there was such a thing.

So the APC40 is clearly great to do live performances with, but how does it fare when composing?

It's a great question, usually when I start to compose in Ableton Live in the session view I won't be using it and rely more on my keyboard. And when I have enough clips for a basic idea I would go and perform those with the APC40 and record the session so after that I can adjust and add to the structure in the arrangement view. So I find it not only great for live sessions, but also coming up with the basic structure of the track. I can of course do it manually as well, but the feel of live performance I think really makes a difference and makes the track more expressive and "humanized". Specially with the all knobs and automations movements. Perhaps I can make a full tutorial for that process in the future if it will be interesting

Thanks! 😊 The APC40 MK2 is only a midi controller, so there are no sounds on it if that is what you mean. all coming from Ableton scenes and i just control the jam with it
