@crazyjc1510 жыл бұрын
XxTheMetalxX all the fans in a pc are 12v, even the big 250mm, they just draw more amps. you'll defiantly need a sturdier power supply than can last longer, and a regulator that can handle the amps going threw it.
@Nothy10 жыл бұрын
XxTheMetalxX any fan should work just fine, really.
@JoshuasRecordings10 жыл бұрын
XxTheMetalxX No they use 12V but they use more amps! Like a 500W per channel amp uses 120V @ 9Amps but a Sony Boombox uses 120V @ 0.15Amps. Same voltage more amperage. If you have a 12V 1Amp PSU you can power around 10 Little fans and 3 Big fans. So it will work it will just drain the battery faster!

The batteries are 9 volts each. When you connect them in series, the voltage adds. So, the voltage that two 9v batteries connected in series would have is 18v. So we have 18v from the batteries, but there is a problem. The fan is a 12-volt fan, so if you provide 18 volts to it you could damage it. Here is where the regulator comes in. The regulator takes the 18v the batteries have and lowers it down to 12 volts. What he says is, that regulator takes up to 35 volts and converts it to 12 volts.

Sean Duffy As Travis McFarland pointed out, the IPA is "'sädər". As far as I know, the I in IPA stands for "International". Also, you used the word soften, as in "'sôfən". Do you pronounce the t? What about s in island, or the g in phlegm? Because by your logic, that is why they are there.

Actually, it would. It's a carbon filter which is the same thing that growers use to hide the smell of their bud. I can't testify on how much it would filter with that small of an amount of carbon filter, but you can always modify it and add something like a small cylindrical or rectangular shaped container, with holes around it, at the exhaust end of the extractor to hold some activated carbon for extra smell absorption power. It's actually a great idea for smokers who want to hide the smell!

I have a degree in electrics,mechanics,electronics,pneumatics,hydraulics.......... And i can assure you by "extracting" fumes this way you will not remove any lead particals from the air inside the room.The smoke goes away because the air gets cooled by the fan.Just opening a window will have allot better results then using this contraption.

glad you made this, I do a lot of electronics repair and soldering, so this has REALLY helped me out... although I did ramp up the fan size to 140mm :P
@metricmine10 жыл бұрын
Right, very useful, because most of the times we use a soldering iron, it very convenient and we have lots of room to place a mini fume extractor right next to the soldering iron. This will also cost you more in batteries, especially since one third of the batteries' power is wasted inside the voltage regulator. You would be better off with 8 AAA batteries, or even a single 9V will work, or just plug in a wall adaptor. A bigger extractor can be made with a cheap computer power supply, place the filter, and jumper the PS-ON wire.

You dont need the voltage regulator anyway. You can have 2 6V batteries in series instead and they are smaller . Also one could add a dc input since working on a bench you must have a dc bench supply hence eliminating batteries

Cool idea, just remember folks that a fume is comprised of very small, solid particles so you would need a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter. Carbon is better at volatile organics (gas).
@plc26812 жыл бұрын
This is specifically for people who do a lot of soldering. If you only use your iron a few times, then no, you don't really need this. But if you do a lot of soldering, melting flux is very hazardous for your lungs. You'll be fine over a short period of time, but it does add up after a while.
@ShadowManceri10 жыл бұрын
Just take any PC fan (bigger the better, pref 120mm x 120mm) and plug it to 9V battery or so. Then place it so that it will *blow* towards what you are soldering. Much greater effect!
@MrRevolutionStarter12 жыл бұрын
He's using 2 9v batteries in "series" making the output voltage of the battery pack 18v. That's why he's using the component to convert the 18v (that's supplied from the batteries) to 12v (since its a 12v fan).

you could, but 9 volt batteries are more common and cheaper. also with 18 v through a regulator, the fan will run more efficiently. if its just simply 12 volts the fan will gradually run weaker as time goes on, and you will be replacing batteries more frequently.

3) again in parallel the other 9volts will not be wasted it will share the load between the two batteries and get you a full Amp meaning that the batteries will last longer and for using the fan just to move smoke away 9volts in a 12v fan is more than enough
