Weekend Projects: Building Hanging Planters With French Cleats

Today on Dad Projects, I'm building hanging planters from Cedar Pickets.
This whole project took me two days to build and the materials costed only $30. I used French Cleats to secure planters to the fence which gives them plenty of sunlight and keeps them out of my dogs reach.

get a piece of sand paper ,make a circle in the middle then plant your peppers in the middle, slugs will not crawl over sand paper to get your plants

Bro.. what size of wood u use for box, also I cut 16 1/2 for bottom and it is to short more detail would be appreciated

Why not just cut a 45 degree cleat cut in the top of the 2x6 brace to avoid the spacing and off-setting?

That was my first idea and I did that in my trail run. I didn’t like the look of though and debris was getting in that cleat. So opted for the method I used in the video.

Hi Samantha, the plants got pretty tall but they never blew over. I do live in an area with low wind though.

You can insert a small piece of wood between the cleat and the spacer to secure the planter. The spacer will have to be attached to the planter for this to work.

This is really low quality build. Why bother sanding it; it will likely fall apart in a month.
