Ferrell's impression is spot on. Harry was prone to saying things in the broadcast booth like wondering aloud whether or not an Asian pitcher would have more trouble seeing to pitch. He was ignorant, and often (or always) drunk- it was both cringy and kind of amusing to listen to him call a game. Even as a kid in the 80s I couldn't believe what would come out of his mouth sometimes.

The 97 series was one of the best. Marlins took 4 out of 7. Game 7 went 11 innings and Florida won it 3-2. The Indians were up 2-0 after 6 innings and the Marlins rallied to tie it and then win it in the bottom of the 11th.

Yes, this is offensive, but it's done in a clearly jesting manner, with no ill intent. Hell, the one actual bad thing he says about American Indians (that they steal land when someone isn't looking) is so obviously incorrect and backwards that it's clearly part of the joke, considering the American Indians had their lands stolen by Europeans, not the other way around. So yeah, it's shock humor, which was big around this time. Hell, Howard Stern was at his peak fame in 1997, and that idiot has never been funny, all he had was shock "humor." At least this got a chuckle out of me. And that's coming from someone who sees the atrocities perpetrated against the American Indians as one of the more heinous parts of American history, worse than slavery, really, in its way.

Having grown up a Cardinals fan in the 60s, I’m very familiar with Harry Caray. Remember, this is the guy who called Joaquin Andujar “Walking Underwear” (no joke). I also recommend listening to Dan St. Paul’s skits with the first baseball game (parts 1 & 2) and the Heaven vs Hell baseball game where he impersonates Harry Caray announcing the games.
