As others have said, Scott Davidson (Pete's dad) has been dead since 9/11/2001 (made more depressing by the fact that Pete was seven when it happened and Scott's body was found before Pete turned eight in November 2001). Scott was one of the firefighters who tried to rescue people from the World Trade Center when it got hit, and died doing it. Most of Pete's stand-up is about how he coped with that loss. I'm more amazed that Amy (Pete's mom) hasn't fallen apart over losing Scott. I mean, yeah, there may have been some moments of despair, but she pretty much carried on, though she stayed single after he died, but I'm guessing it's because she didn't want to upset her kids.

Jezdamayel Caster I’m reminded of a young paralegal who used to ride the bus with me. She was loudly trashing men who still lived with their parents. At the time, my stepfather had run off two years ago due to the sadness surrounding my grandmother’s death ( the family matriarch), my mother gave up a high-paying career to save my sister, and they needed help keeping the home and bills paid. Plus, New Jersey was expensive as IDKW, so I had no choice. When I hear ANYONE trash people who live with their parents, I’m almost tempted to throw a punch. Ironically, though, self-preservation in this manner appears to be becoming the norm.

I think the stigma is going away slowly because we're all so poor. But seriously, the idea that people should move out at 18 was ridiculous from the first place. I'm glad I'm from a culture that doesn't expect that sort of stuff- and honestly, I stop caring about people's opinions much when I learn that they judge people for that. There are a whole lot of reasons for people to live with their parents for a while as adults.

@@benjiwyatt8812 in other countries, it's the norm. People help their parents and grandparents. It's not uncommon for three generations of family to live together in Asian societies.
